too small for a drag radial?

Ok guys I found a ridiculous deal on some bf g drags but something tells me it would be pointless? I was gonna buy 18" corvette gs replicas 18x9.5 for 380 the pair and these tires for 320 shipped 275/35/18 I figure they might not grip anymore than nt05.

Don't waste your money or time on nt05's
Go with a Hoosier or Mickey Thompson tire.

I have M & H 275's and they hook surprisingly well with 720 RWHP

Yes, those are too small. A 275/35R18 is only 25.6" tall. That's over 3 inches shorter than the stock tires. Get the 18" wheels you were planning on getting and put some 305/45R18 tires on them.

Im running 315/35/18 on vette replicas now. Yes they are a lot shorter than stock tires but I have no problem with them. Once Im through with these tires I will be going 305/45/18 though. A tire that short will change shift points (which for me was better), screw with ABS system (doesnt hurt anything-you just dont have ABS), and you will have to make sure you shut off all nannies when you turn the car on or else it'll get confused and try to stop you.

Im currently ripping off 1.8 60' times with them in my M6. Not really sure how much lower I could get with a taller tire but I will still go to one next anyway.

Thanks for the info guys, I figured the bf g 275/35 was gonna be inadequate and I know m/t is running best at local track..... jeff_ss would you say the nt05 is terrible for regular street driving /occasional pulls?

I daily drive on the NT05Rs, they drive great. But at the track they are not not as good as M&H or M/T. I've gone 1.66 on mine. If I were to get a new set of DRs I would probably try the M&H 275's if they fitted on my 18x9.5's.

More sidewall is your friend, especially with a m6.
