6th gen and E85
What do you guys think the possibilities are of the 6th gen being E85 friendly from the factory?

That's an interesting question. As a fuel, it tends to perform better at the expense of a couple mpgs. As I understand it, the main difference between E85-ready engines and those without that capability is that the seals aren't as likely to corrode. E85 tends to eat those seals quickly otherwise.

If it goes E85, it will be like every other factory flex fuel vehicle on the road. It will actually be run on gasoline, and be technically compatible with E85, but not in any way set up to do anything with it other than burn more gallons of it. The only redeeming value of having it for 99% of buyers will be if the manufactures still get CAFE "credits" for doing it.

the stingray is flex fuel from the factory, hence why the pump, flex fuel sensor, and injectors are oversized by 35% for headroom.

I thought I had also read that concerning the LT1 in the Stingray. If it is indeed E85 compatible, that would turn the thing into a rocket with just the 85 tune alone. Heck...the thing is already a rocket with just a normal tune. That car just rocks.

I have no doubt at all that it can be aftermarket tuned to run on E85. Its been done with the V6 Camaro with pretty good success (for the most part). I just didn't think it was ready from the factory. I'd love to see it done though.

I'm fairly certain it is flex fuel though.
