Unhappy Keep a kid in your prayers!

As some of you may know,I was involved in an accident on Tuesday (some idiot blew a stop sign as I was driving down a through street) well since the car is in my dad's name(I'm only 16) the way my state farm insurance worked out was was that as long as I didn't get into an accident, I wouldn't have to be put on the insurance, so I was just paying my dad the $261 every 6 months, which was no big deal... Well since the accident wasn't my fault, there's a slight bit of hope that I still won't have to be put on(I have no clue how it works) but if I am put on it, you may want to sit down, I will have to pay $724 every six month period I know that you gotta pay to play, but please hope that this works out for me! Thanks fellas

you shouldn't be cheating the insurance company anyway, if your family has enough money to let a 16 year old drive a new Camaro then you have the money to pay the fair rate for your insurance, $724 for 6 months is really cheap anyway, lots of 25 year olds still pay that much. Money Junkie thinking trying to cheat the insurance company. Putting 2 names on a car to save a few bucks is one thing, but purposely not putting a regular driver on the policy is just plain fraud.

I don't cheat the insurance company, that's the policy they laid out to me, and for your information,I paid for my car with my own money, we're just a middle class family, and I've worked for years to buy this car. So bite me

not sure why you'd want to be on your parents insurance?? Insurance is like credit, the longer you have it, the better your rating gets and your insurance drops (provided you have a clean driving record etc). I get you are only 16 and that is a lot of money at your age, but eventually you will need your own and you'll be paying the higher rates regardless......gl!

I wasn't born yesterday and I don't believe your BS. there's no way an Insurance company Quoted $500 a year for a 16 year old in a new Camaro.

Definitely understand where you're coming from, I'm just being a little selfish I guess because paying $724 obviously packs more punch than $261 lol

Hopefully you can keep your current situation and sorry to hear about your accident, but if not....$724 for a 16 yr old on a 2013 Camaro for a 6 month period is an insanely good rate. When I was 18 I was paying $375 a MONTH to insure a brand new 92 Z28 and when I was 16 I was crushed that I couldnt get a used 84 Z28 because the lowest insurance quote I could get was $2600 for a 6 month period. Maybe insurance rates have come down since then, I was 18 in 1992 I bought a new Trans Am in 95, I was 21 at that time and I was still paying a bit over $724 for a 6 month period and my insurance really didnt get the big time drop until 25. Then it was $390 a year.

Since I'm only 16 by law I can't have the car in my name, hence the reason why it's in my dad's, and also the reason why I pay the insurance he is quoted. I've sold the Chicago Tribune newspaper since I was 12, and through the years it amounted enough for me to buy the car of my dreams. Please don't judge me as a spoiled irresponsible teen, because I worked for this and deserve it
