3000 GT Opinions!
What's up everyone? I'm curious of what people think of going from my Camaro to a 3000 GT. I know there will be a huge difference. Are they reliable cars etc? The only reason I pop the question is I will be finding a car I will own outright before I go into my second year of college next year. Transferring from community to a four year school! Whats the opinions? Please no bashing just looking for information.

I love the 3000GT. Great fun to drive. I'd hate to lose my Camaro, but for now, for what you need I think it's not a bad choice. Parts may be hard to get though. What year is it?

Well, the issue is that the 3000GT hasn't been around for quite a while now. So, you are fighting age as parts go bad. So, while it might be cheaper, you will be paying in repairs down the road to keep it running.
I personally love 3000GTs, but I dont' know if I'd trade to something that old

It's a '97. My neighbor owns it. He only wants 1k for it has about 107,000 miles. It's stick, has a body kit etc. He is very a good friend I have known him since he moved in. He has just been looking to get rid of it. Its like a rust orange color also.

Yes?
If you have a problem with SAABs, take it elsewhere please. I'm not interested. This is a Camaro forum and this thread is about something else than SAABs. // Stefan |

Kind of hard to say on quality. First there is the guys that modified the hell out of them. Second, if you find one that hasn't been abused, I say grab it. All the ones I see around here are beat to hell. Kind of sad really. :( Have any idea which generation you're looking for?

Well one thing is that the engine can take a lot of beating but the transmissions aren't that great, especially when tuned (which many are).
But then what do I know, I only drive a SAAB. // Stefan |

I'm probably gonna get strung up for saying this, but if you had an SS, I would say don't do it. Otherwise, I think you'll be happy with a 3000GT if you get one that is in good shape. I have a buddy that has a 3000GT with a turbo on it and he was putting down quite a bit more than a stock SS. They are cool cars and you can get some good numbers out of them if you do it right.
