1 big garage door vs 2 separate doors

I'm buying a house and wanted to know the pros/cons for each option. What do you think?

1 x 18ft door
* easier to drive in cars
* easier to put car in middle and work on it

2 x 8ft doors
* looks better
* more private
* less heat/cool loss opening just 1 door

Building a Garage? I think the 16' doors are standard. I've had both styles and the bigger is nicer, but if you have a project you don't have to look at it each time you open the door, if you have the smaller doors.

Don't do 8 ft doors, too narrow
9'x7' should be the smallest I would go
To have a good functioning garage with room to work 26'x26' works well

My house has a 2 door garage. Hate it because I can't detail or work on my car in it.

Look into doing 10 foot doors with at least three feet between the doors and surrounding walls. Lets you easily park the car in the bay AND open the doors to get out.

We are looking at building a new house and I am looking into four 10 foot single doors with 36" to 48" inbetween.
Cheers

I have a 8' high by 18' wide. Can back cars in SUPER easy! I also have a pull-down stairs dead center. Can pull it down between both cars withouit moving them.

What Moriartii said.

Make sure the garage has enough height too! This is especially true if you have a large SUV and/or a truck. I don't know how may people I have asked why the don't park inside, and they usually say it is too small to get in. I have never found a garage too large!!
