Branson.
Just a real report about the recent tornado that hit Branson and surrounding areas. It was a nasty storm and did some damage but what the media is reporting and what the reality is seem to be 2 completely different story lines.
There is some damage and some buildings were destroyed and we have some cleaning up to do. But the town is very much up and running and there is still plenty to do here as it pertains to hotels, shopping, and shows. It is nowhere near the size and scope of what happened in Joplin last year. With Joplin there was no possible way the media could even begin to convey the level of devastation and destruction. With Branson, it seems they are doing their best to sensationalize and show only the small portions of town that were damaged and portraying that that is what the whole town looks like. Not so. So if anybody here was planning on going to Branson and is now having second thoughts, don't. B-Town is fine and the ppl here great so we'll bounce back from this better and stronger. It certainly could have been a lot worse but thankfully it isn't. Booo on irresponsible, sensationalistic journalism. Most importantly, no Camaros were damaged.

Prayers go out to my fellow Show Me Staters. Grew up in tornado alley (KC). Joplin last year was a bad one too. Hope the community can rebuild, and heal.

Both sides of my family is from that area of MO, so we're Ozark folk - my parents went to Branson on their honeymoon - in 1955! (a tad different town back then). No harm to family but been watching the news as I can.
Since tourism is huge down there I hope people keep coming & don't hurt the local enocomy. A lot of local mom & pop businesses that could get hurt if people stop showing up for a while. |
