USB Question
I know this is a very random question and I'm sure nobody knows "for sure" but maybe people that know more about this technology could shed some light on this.
The USB port can play music off of an iPod, iPhone, Flash Drive, compatible MP3 Players, etc. Is it only capable of playing MP3's? I ask this because there are different apps for the iPhone and iPod Touch that play music through websites (Pandora, AOL Radio, etc. for example). Will websites like that play through the car speakers? Thanks in advance!

Probably not through the USB port. For something like that, you'd use the auxiliary jack.

It probably has more than one audio codec for the USB port. In Engrish that means it should be able to play more than just mp3 format.

Just to clarify something else, will I be able to put all of my music on a flash drive and just leave it in the USB port all the time to act as sort of an external hard drive to play music off of without having to plug my iPhone in every time I get in the car? Also, does anyone know if playlists can play off of a flash drive?

Can the USB port be added to those cars without the C&C package?

The thing about this that is going to bug me is... I think this is going to work for the iPod.... and iPhone... but what about the Zune.. I know the aux jack will work... but for us out there that HATE Apple.... i think we're fubar for full connectivity.

Also the iPhone will only play music on the iPod setting but wont plays apps i.e. AoL radio and Pandora, but you will be able to use the Aux to play those. You might get some wight noise using the iPhone, the radio transmitter interferes with the speakers. |

That's not correct. The aux jack doesn't care what format the audio is in. It's like plugging in your headphones. Your headphones don't care if it's mp3, wav, ogg, etc. Any Iphone app like Pandora or AOL Radio will work through the auxiliary jack.

The USB port uses PDIM technology (Personal Device Interface Module)
The USB port will support the IPOD, ZUNE, USB Drive. It will support MP3's and WMA files. For the USB drive it will scan the drive for the music files and then allow you to select them from the Stereo. |
