I've had a number of random issues since I arrived in Miami, but yesterday was quite shocking for a different reason.

On my way to work, I generally gun it onto 95 South from Brickell. I saw a Charger, looked stock, so I proceeded to drive "normal". By the time I'm on South Dixie, those unwanted dash light are lighting up my rear view.

I knew I was speeding, and honestly I have no idea how fast. I guess I don't look at the HUD these days.

The officer approached... "how many horses does this car have? Do you know how fast you were going?"

Me: I was definitely over 55 back there, how fast was I going?

Cop:55? Try 80

Me:damn

Cop:yeah, you floored and you were off onto the highway.

He asked for license, registration... The norm. Then that was it, handed the items back and warned me to slow it down. Welcomed me to Florida and warned of the nit so nice troopers that would give a ticket for speeding, and not having a Florida license.

I haven't ran into a cool cop in over 9 years, and given my experience here so far, that single act goes far. We often get pissed when we are in the wrong and get a ticket. I was prepared to pay the ticket and this happens, surprised the hell out of me. My weekend is off to a great start, enjoy and be safe.

i recently had a similar thing happen here in NY....only i did get a ticket, just not for speeding!

Those radar detectors are nice, but only work in certain areas and if the officer is lazy and not using his defeater switch, plus the radar unit is only used to at times to confirm the officers estimation of your speed. Be aware. Some states tickets can be written based on speed estimations only. Those radar units get calibrated every six months and certified, but your little detector gets checked once.

Similar happened to me last Friday around 2AM, (not in the Camaro - which has a radar detector) I got pulled for 13+ speeding. I'm almost 17 so I still have curfew at 11PM-7AM. He said that my honesty and respect got me out of 5 tickets and left me with one that I could into the court, present proof and walk out: Proof of Insurance.

My tickets should have been: Speeding, Violation of Drivers License, No I.D. On hand, No registration, No proof of insurance in the car.

I still havent had to stop one Camaro yet. I do watch them, not so see what they are doing but to see what they have done (mods). If I see them filling up at the pump I always stop and chat about our cars. Have turned a few people on to Camaro5 but I dont think any have signed up yet. Maybe they have atleast visited.

That is awesome that a Florida super trooper hooked ya up! I haven't been pulled over yet in my 5gen (knock on wood), but I had two Hillsborough County Sheriffs pull up next to me at a street light and asked me " How's that thing ride?!" I said " like a dream!" lol they laughed and pulled away!

Welcome to Florida. I would guess 80% of the time if ya arnt a dick-hole and be honest with them, most city/county cops will just bust your balls. Run into a Fla. State Trooper, and hes gonna bust your ass. Florida State Troopers are no joke.

I commute from Brickell to Coconut Groove, I'm guessing that's not a high trooper area. I haven't seen one yet, well not since I drove down from Atlanta.
