Speakers
I have one alpine type r 12inch sub. 1800max-600rms. Whats the best amp for this? The one that's popping up the most is Alpine Mrp500 or 650 Mono. But I read in a thread that I should get a multi channel amp if I want more power to my front and rear speakers. My front door speakers are polk db651 with 60watt rms/ 180 watt peak power. My rear speakers are pioneer 6 x 9's 5 way speakers 480 watt max/ 80 rms.

Ok in your case 2 amps is going to work best for you I have 2 type R's 10s for the sub get a one channel amp the ones you looked up are perfect for that sub as for your door and rear deck I'd get a second 4 channel amp with about 70 rms on 4 channels don't know what ohms you have but that's just my opinion I have a set up kinda like yours but stayed alpine all the way through

I agree, I have a 4 channel for my cabin speakers and a dedicated amp for my subs. As soon as Alpine gets my dash kit made, I will get my system installed...again.

dedicated amps are good(more versatility), but a decent 5 channel will work fine as well(has dedicated subwoofer channel)..

it all depends on your wants and needs.
there are a few multi-channel (5-6) amps out there that have a decent amount of power on the sub channel, but not many... so if your looking for or needing lots of sub power, your going to want to look for multiple amps. If you DONT need a ton of power, then a solid 5-6 channel amp will work well for you. budget & listening style/preferences are going to be your guidelines on where to start looking.

Thanks for the Input. I figured getting two amps would be the best way to go. I do want some power going to my Sub. Not trying to spend 400+ on a 5 or 6 channel amp. So I believe the Alpine mono mrp500 and a class d brand 4 channel would be cheaper. A9AL8R the ohms are 2/4 for the front/rear. On a sad note :( The polk i ordered aren't component speakers so now I'll just give them to my wife for her car. I'll go with Alpine 6x5's component in the front.
