82 Corvette

My neighbor brought a 82 Corvette. When the car is not warmed up it run very rough. When warmed up it runs fine. It has Cross Fire fuel injection. Does anyone know what the problem could be our were I can post to find out?

Cross Fire Injection....what we used to call Cease Fire Injection......Possibly one of the worst motors ever put in a vette. They quickly went to Tuned port after about 2 model years 82 and 84.

I remember when I was 16 years old in 1982. Mom wanted to look at the subcompact chevy station wagon. I stood in the showroom and gawked at the pace car version of the 1982 corvette with those words written on the side, "Cross Fire Fuel Injection". Right next to it was a late '60s 427 'vette with a tach mounted on top of the dash and cruise control. I remember thinking how awesome the '82 'vette was next to that old car.

I wasn't so smart at 16 was I?

He's going to have continued problems with that set-up. He should consider converting it to an L82 which is inexpensive and not difficult.

LOL Thats funny! I think that year vette had some kind of sentimental value to him. I tried to talk him out of it but...

I was thinking along that line as well. I told him maybe to go with a L7

My Dad had that, and he had the fuel injection changed to a traditional carbuerator set up and got rid of the emissions control except the cat (which was required) and he picked up almost 100hp with no further changes. I think it was sold as a complete kit.

A cross fire engine is just like owning a boat, bust out another thousand

Takes money to keep them in tip top shape.

I would not change anything, keep it original and pay up as needed or find a different vette.

Those late 70s early 80s Vettes are a dime a dozen.

It's not that hard to find if you just know where to look.

I just wouldn't change one like that.
Vette's come in so many flavors, just buy what you want to begin with.

Sound like the guy just bought a vette to have a vette and didn't bother to check into anything first. He should of know before buying the crossfire will need more attention. Like someone who buys a boat and doesn't realize the cost of it is only half the price. Or a fance Euro sports car that needs a full time mechanic for upkeep.

And I think folks are to spoiled with all the fuel injection computer stuff.

A "muscle" car that isn't picky when cold seems wrong in a way. I wanna hafta pump it, crank, pump away some more, crank n maybe fire but poop out, re-adjust on the full manual choke, crank n start and it misses n loads up tilll you find that sweet spot on the choke, then hafta let it warm up before you go anywhere.

This start up in any weather condition and just go, is nice maybe, but you lose out on some of the fun things in life.
