Stupid question

If I already have a muffler delete, and I have an xpipe sitting in my garage waiting to be installed...and I wanted to get headers that eliminate the second set of cats but use some high flows on the monitored cats...

1) What kind do I need to buy that will hook up to the stock system? Long tube? Or am I better off just buying a package with the X pipe included and selling the one in my garage (thereby insuring it will hook up to the otherwise factory system)? How much HP will I lose by keeping two high flow cats?

2) Assuming I keep the high flows as mentioned above, I am assuming I won't throw a CEL, is that correct?

Sorry for the dumb questions, I am just trying to avoid having to redo the whole system after I got the muffler delete. In other words, I'd rather not pay for the same work twice.

No questions are stupid...

LT will replace both cats. I have Kooks, and LOVE THEM. They came from Marylandspeed with Hiflow cats. Very easy bolt up to the the OEM Exhuast system.

All you would need to do with that is put the XPipe you have on after the hi-flow cats.

My CEL comes on, but if I reset it...it will not come on again unless there is a huge change in temperature/humitidy outside...at least, that's my thoughts.

You could get Shorties, and keep your cats as they are...but this will not get you much HP if any at all.

Hope this helps.

So your Kooks have only two cats or all four? I'd like just two. Why does the CEL come on with high flow cats? Is there a MIL eliminator or something you can add into the mix or do you have to get a tune or use a handheld to get rid of the CEL? How does the X pipe and whatnot bolt up for sure? Just clamps?

Also if im going to throw a cel anyhow i might as well go with no cats.

Lastly, is there a diagram of the exhaust setup and whatnot? Its been about six months since i've been under the car and apparently i forget what the situation is like under there...

No cats usually means cel always. And IMO a nasty smell.

I say lt's coated with high flow cats ftw.

Yeah. Lts are debatable on warranty, a tune is not.

Not trying to start a debate, just throwing out my experience.

I don't care about the warranty stuff. Does the car run like dog shit when the CEL is thrown?

For cats idk. If u don't care about warranty, then cai,lt with hf or no cats, and a 3" cat back plus tube will make u some nice hp...

Someone said that high flow cats are going to throw a CEL anyhow, so if that's the case, no sense in getting them if I'm in a place where I don't need to get inspected.

If I got the CAI, LTH no cats, muffler delete, and Magnaflow X pipe with everything else stock is that going to be much different than getting the catback to replace the rest of the system?

The reason I ask is I like the sound of no mufflers, and I hate to spend money for an extra 3hp or something for some "fancy" catback that I don't really need. Also, most muffler places around here won't remove them even though they don't mess with the cats.

It seems apparent that this guy has the stock parts except headers, cat section, and axleback:

Quote:
Roto-fab CAI, 160T-stat, Ebay 1-5/8" catless long tubes, stock mid pipe(s), JBA axleback, 231/247 113LSA Cam, 7.400PR's, PRC 650 springs and of course the ever important tune. Ive got less into this car in parts than what most pay for a complete exhaust system for those who are budget concious.

MY Kooks have two hiflow cats, one on each side...

It has thrown a CEL but I have reset it and it goes awhile without throwing another code...just seems like when the weather changes...

I have not tuned my car yet either.

I value my warranty...
