Just the left overs. I was sure I'd end up pulling a dead mouse or something out, but got lucky.

So the stock camaro Rod and piston I ordered are back ordered from gm for some reason, so hurry up and wait

Stock piston for those who want to see

Stock rod

Stock rod next to one of my LFX forged rods

I'll probably start disassembling the spare engine after the new year and start moving forward

He's prolly been busy with his charge pipes and TB. If they take off he'll have a lot more incoming funds to tackle that project.

Here's hoping! I'm on board for at least the bigmouth, but will likely get the pipe 'set' when available... Secretly have fingers crossed for him to tackle a turbo manifold for the boggwarner efr series turbos
Holding breath starting.... NOW!!

Really like the look of those rods too!

I'm not gonna get rich off of the charge pipe/tb kit that's for sure.

I have been pretty busy outside of car stuff, and that sucks. Moving by the end of this month, working on the new house. New baby (my first) on the way, due in May... Not enough hours in the day to bang out all this new stuff that I would like to.

TMI aside, I haven't even cracked the engine open yet, it's sitting on it's pallet on a shelf. I really need to soon though, because I am very interested in exploring the cams/valvetrain...

I did however receive the (stroker) crankshaft for the engine. Need to get it into the engine with a stock rod and piston, get the dial indicators out to figure out the rod length and get some rods in the making.

No rest for the wicked I guess eh?
Congratulations on the future family! My fingers are crossed for the good news!

God bless! A new addition is always welcome news! Just saying... but Thomas is a pretty good idea for a name!

If you were to run an BW EFR turbo, which one would you pick?

Also... Crankshaft...

Me, I would say the 7163. I wouldn't think of the smaller ones as much of an upgrade over the stock turbo, and I've seen the 7163 as an excellent balance of low-end response and top-end power, capable of over 500HP.

I think I would one up the 7163 and go for the 7670 0.92A/R T4 twinscroll... Land in the 400-450whp range from a 2.3L on pump gas I'd hope; then have headway still for meth and racegas for 500+ (in theory in my make-believe perfect world)

Small downside is the 3.5" inlet on the 7670 means some intake reconfiguring would be neaded...

One nice thing is though I believe the 7163 also has a T4 flange option... So perhaps one manifold could service both the 7163 and the 7670 sizes?

The 7670 spools a lot slower than the 7163 with only minor gains in hp at the very top end. Source.

Also, BorgWarner offers the T4 twin-scroll housing for the 6258 and up, so you could basically have any turbo larger or equal to the 6258 with the same manifold (although the 6258 and 6758 are not much of an upgrade over the stock turbo).
