Just wanted to share my experience so far running drag radials on the street for anyone who may be considering trying this. Some of you might recall that I was trying to decide between purchasing Sport Cup 2's or a set of drag radials. Since I never drive in the rain, I decided to give the DR's a try and had them mounted last Friday.
Conditions: Sunny, dry, 60-80F Specs: Rear - 315/35/20 (Mickey Thompson ET Street S/S) Rear PSI - 28 Front - 285/30/20 (Michelin Pilot Super Sport) Front PSI - 28 I started out with them set to 32psi and experimented. Car launched with some wheel spin in 1st but gripped well WOT in 2nd and 3rd in a straight line. It handled well at low speeds and around town. However on the highway, it was very floaty. It felt like the taller sidewall was flexing. Steering was very imprecise during lane changes over 65mph...not recommended. Dropped the PSI down to 28 all around, which is right above the low pressure warning. On the highway it felt a lot more precise when changing lanes while accelerating. The floaty feeling was gone. I also ran a few back roads, took some exit off ramps at high speed, and the rear end held. I wasn't expecting the same precise handling that I had with the Michelin's in back, but was pleasantly surprised with how much I could comfortably push the car around turns and not lose it. Problem solved Needless to say, at 28psi it hooked really well with all the nannies off in competitive mode in 1st (MRC was set to Sport). I finally got to feel all that power I added over the winter while rowing through 1st 2nd and 3rd. I know that's what these tires are made for, but just saying "wow" doesn't do it justice. I haven't played much with the various MRC settings yet, but plan to try the softer Tour setting to see if it responds better once I find some better places to test. Thanks to Snowblind for his recommendation on the tire and PSI. This was more of an experiment for me to feel how much DD handling I'd lose before investing in a dedicated setup with smaller wheels. That's next on my list and I plan on taking the car to the drag strip once I have more experience with it. I really enjoy driving a stick and am more interested in seeing how well I can do vs. just mashing the gas pedal and holding on.

I finally found a good spot and beat the living bajezus out of it. I had 44% E85 in the tank. Made at least 5 back to back runs and IAT's just cracked 100 after the 5th when I stopped to lower my air pressure. The Maggie is the REAL deal...easily the best engineered blower. It just wants to run and run hard. I love this car, except it's loud and attracted a crowd of teenagers who all took out their phones to video me and ended my day.
I did record one pull 0-60 for fun. Car launched real well initially, but then I got a ton of wheel spin midway through 1st gear. I still managed a nice time though. I thought it was my fault, so I tried a few more times but got the same spin midway through 1st. The air pressure probably needs to go down even more.

Finish my spring time detailing last night. Poorboys inside, washed with Dawn then did the paint and wheels with Blackfire Total and Seal on Sunday and two coats of Blackfire Crystal Seal last night.

LOL, I doubt it! I only drive in one other state regularly and they're so far behind the times and predictable that it's a joke. I still need to decide on the best way to secure the license plate medallion. I saw someone had listed one on ebay with the tab broken off so I'm not sure if I can really prevent it from being stolen unless I remove it when I park somewhere unfamiliar.

Some long overdue mods. Car's been doing great except I was backed into while filling up E85 at a gas station in NY. Luckily it was minor and only damaged the clear bra. Filed a claim against the other driver's insurance and also did the following:
- replaced front clear-bra - ceramic coated entire car and wheels - LED side markers (from JWM) - GM 3rd brake light - R888R tires (285/30/20 up front, 315/30/20 in back) Here's some pics...first one is of the damage. Car was filthy when it happened so it's hard to see. I just hit 20k miles last week and noticed some slight clutch slippage. Next thing I'll do is probably replace the clutch and possibly flywheel with the ZL1's. Issue occurs very infrequently so I'll probably be fine for the rest of the year.

Thanks. I just came on here to see what the latest and greatest is. Trying to decide if I should take it to the next level or just call it a wrap and sell it now.

Just found this thread and read through the whole thing to get to the end and see you sold it! If you don’t mind me asking, why did you sell the car? Are you getting a new vehicle to modify?
