No Obie in snow conditions

Hi,
I'm new to the forum and I guess excited to be here.
I've wanted to own a Camaro for 45 years but couldn't
afford one at a younger age. I'm 63 and just bought my first Camaro1SS in nightfall grey...Wow!!! It's my dream car and I'm in awe!!
So therefore since I am new here, I have my first question.
The car has 25 miles on the odometer, obviously I just bought it..
Snow!!!! Ok does it do it... Snow tires a plus I imagine, but can she handle
normal snow conditions, not blizzards.....
Can someone give me advice since I plan to make her my only ride!!

Thanks

The SS come with 'summer only' tires, that really should be driven in winter-like condition as your traction will be severely degraded. Your options are snow tires or all seasons tires.

If you only want to have one set of rims get a set of tires akin to Continental DWS06's. You'll still have to be careful in the snow, but they'll be way better than the summer only tires.

If you can afford another set of wheels, then mount dedicated snow tires on them, they'll have much better traction in the snow and lce than all season tires.

I have a C7 with the Continental DWS06 on my "winter" rims, and I've been caught in some light snow, they do ok.

I have a 1SS as well. Has anyone put winter tires on stock wheels? Did you decide to go with the staggered setup from the factory or did you go with a different tire size?

I drove a 04 GTO and 08 G8 GT in all weather in the mountains of PA and into NY. I liked using snow tires and a bit of weight in the trunk. 150lbs of flat barbell weights typically. Still went slow though.

Ran snows on my 16 SS last winter (upstate NY) and had no issues at all. Only two days I did not drive the car were really bad storms that dumped over 2 feet of snow. Drove it the next day though and the roads were still bad but, having the right tires, it was fine.

What kind of tire/wheel setup were you using?

Check if you can find BLIZZAKS in a size compatible with our cars. I ran them on all four , on Crown Vic's here in MT as a Highway Patrolman. I made it through some horrid conditions.

In my opinion "all seasons "are nothing but a compromise. Go true SNOW tires.

model# lm32 blizzak tires served me well last winter. There is a less performance oriented version for better deep snow traction. Put some weight in the rear during the winter.

Welcome to the forum and congrats!

Bridgestone Blizzaks are truly AMAZING in the snow, have them on my other cars but the Camaro gets parked during the winter months. DO NOT go with all season if you live anywhere where it snows. Find an 18 inch set of wheels from a stock Camaro or 2014-2017 Cadillac CTS, they pop up on craigslist all the time and get snow tires. 18" will do better than 20" in the snow. Skinnier tires are better than Wider tires when it comes to snow traction.
