Steel brake lines for any SS 1LE guys?

Anyone know if the steel brake line kit from Goodridge is quality and worth the upgrade for the track? My brake feel is not the best....I have the upgraded fluid in there, but still kind of soft on the pedal.

Stock lines are steel.. just nicely coated in durable rubber coating.

Currently there are no stainless steel braided lines for the SS 1LE.

Goodridge is working on a set, but not sure when they will be out.

I've searched and read conflicting information on this topic in multiple threads.

Either way, I've run Goodridge braided lines on my race-prepped C5Z for years and I like the extra robustness (is that a word?) over the stock lines, especially after seeing stock brake line failure on a friend's new C6 GS.

I'm not seeing a lot of options other than Phastek, but I think I'll wait for a brand like Goodridge that I am more familiar with.

Has anyone found them for the SS 1LE yet?

The OEM lines are steel.

I've seen aftermarket "stainless" type fail often due to poor installation as many are MISSING stock locating brackets, twists and kinks again from poor installation. Stock lines, i've seen them fail internally but that was on cars that were 10+ years old. Those same locating bracket rust and squeeze flow to caliper, eventually leading to stuck caliper, again, old car in rusty environments.

On such critical safety item, no OEM in their right mind would skimp on quality. I find it hard to believe that OE line failed w/o some user help.. ie dropping a wheel on the brake lines as wheels are swapped, etc. Twisting line when doing brake job cuz noobz

Dont buy poor quality/generic brake lines that vendors sell, goodridge for example uses OEM fitment.

Not a Noob, and a new car. If the line was damaged, it came that way from the dealer/GM.

Stock brake lines are made for the 90% who will not heat their brake fluid to the max temps allowed by high-temp fluid like Motul or SRF.

Ever seen a stock aluminum caliper "spread" due to heat? Is it because GM skimped on quality or b/c the design parameters did not include sustained temps allowed by high-temp brake fluid?

No one is holding a gun to your head forcing you to buy braided lines. Drive the stock ones. For me the brakes are THE most important thing on the car and I will have the best available brake lines on my car, which are not the ones that came on it.

I am actually going to prove the make up of the stock lines shortly. I just ordered a front SS 1LE/ATS-V brake line for the sole purpose of deconstructing it.

For the SS 1LE, it shares the same brake lines as the ATS-V (front/rear), according to GM parts. The rears are the same between SS, SS 1LE, ZL1 and ZL1 1LE according to GM parts (as a point of consideration).

Once it comes in, I will update this thread with information and pictures.
