1990 C4 ZR1 roommate. Interesting. I’ve worked on some of those back in my GM employment days. I actually rebuilt an LT5 in that time. Cool engine and very sophisticated at the time. They are rare too.
Sorry, but I have a feeling the ZLE will be the Alpha of that garage.
Cheers my friend and congratulations on your new beauty.
hey and thanks! ya I love my '90 ZR-1; it's the first year (and only year) with the 'older' style front end with the squared off driving lights (which you can actually turn on and drive with without having to flip open the main headlights!) so I knew I wanted a '90 over a '91-'95. the '90s are also a bit lighter and have the smaller steering wheel airbag, and no ASR traction control, and also have the more competition oriented seats. here's mine; she's all original paintwork drivetrain etc. I've done maintenance on her and upkept her but no mods. there's no doubt that the ZLE is the 'alpha' (great pun man!) down there in the garage but I love my ZR-1 something special. and it sounds like no other GM V8 when it's winding out past 7000 rpm (and she never falls off til the fuel cut which is way over that. it just puuuuulls so smoothly it's a different experience all together! oh and the engine itself is a work of art; its all powdercoated aluminum castings; no plastic covers like so many of today's engine compartments. I've tried not to 'overclean' or overpolish mine and let it reside with a little patina under there, just as it would have been back in the day.

Fantastic find and purchase! As you’ve already found out, it’s addicting driving the ZLE. I can’t get enough of mine. You are in for a real treat!

Congratulations on your ZLE and I really like that Rally Green! Too bad Chevy didn’t keep the color around for more than a couple of years. Enjoy that hotrod and the drive too!

just a warning to you - to many, once you start doing this, any other hobby you have is like out the window and bye bye no more lol! you get a taste of the track and it's like doing drugs!
Very cool. Been a drag racer for a few decades. Haven’t visited the strip in about 15yrs. We have a local 1/8 mile run bi-annually at the local airport I plan on hitting in May. The way our business is going so far I should be able to hit the strip maybe once or twice this year.

Only ever been on a road course once. Just want to hit Road America once this year to see what it’s like & say I’ve done it. I’m sure it’s addictive. It’s a long drive & I usually don’t have time during the summer to go.

Congrats on your ZLE, and try to look at the bright side, he'll have a much harder time keeping that dark green car clean while you have the color that hides imperfections like they're not even there

you got that right brother! this color is going to be a challenge to keep clean and swirl free! two of my three race cars are white, just for that reason (and it's way easier to repair and match blend the white paint after a shunt!)

True that Mine is dark red, and that's the price we pay for our royal hues.

If you can swing it, wrap the entire car in some self-healing PPF. Oh, and don't forget rock guards before the first track day, or your rocker panels may soon have a nice white dot pattern you never asked for. I have only the front end and mirrors wrapped (reason: $$$), but then I don't track my car.

Congrats on the fantastic car, enjoy to the max. I echo others that PPF and rock guards are a good idea.
I gotta say, love the color!

I see you got the '90 ZR-1 with the battery EV option as your garage bay would indicate. Indeed, very rare.

Seriously, great color and a great car. My 2017 ZL1 has been bulletproof. I hope you get a lot of carefree miles out of that beauty.

Nice ZR1, I remember those wide ass rear rims when they first came out. Always a Camaro guy but the Vette front end opened to expose the engine is definitely a bonus. That engine is a work of art.

thanks guys! ya back then a 315 rear tire as oem was unheard of; it was considered a steamroller, and because of that all ZR-1s had the bodywork in the rear specially built to accommodate the huge tire (interesting aside; '96 Grand Sports also got the big tires, but they had standard rear bodywork with glue on fender flare lips). I love the look of that LT5 motor too!!!

and just finished installation of the front rock guards today (I didn't get the rear ones because after watching the youtube videos it seemed that they might not fit as nicely with the additional aero on my ZLE). it also seemed to me that the front tires throwing rocks back onto the rear haunches would be like 90% of the danger anyway. so got my front guards on
