Thank you sir.

No expert on this but how would the driving feel like with having the loose nut? I don't have a jack with me right now so I can't take the tires out

Has anyone ordered nuts recently? I got a pair of 11612295 axle nuts and they are different design. They no longer have the thin flange that you can stake in the axle.

My left drivers side backed off a little right side was good. Re torqued both to 200 ft lbs and watching. I checked both sides about a month and a half ago both lined up At about 2,000 miles at 2637 it had backed off as in picture. I first noticed a loud click / snap on my “ring” camera when I backed it to the drive way. I could not hear it with the window down only on the ring. After re torquing the next backing in no click now it has come back not as loud. 200 ft lbs brought the blue mark right back in line and the right side was at 200 ft lbs.

This is how mine looks. I re-torqued them both and they moved again as far as yours did but have not gotten any looser. I don't have any noises and it seems to be stable for now and I do check them periodically.

I replaced my rear axle nuts today. They had backed off about 10 degrees, the drivers side was very loose. I used red lock tight, hopefully they will stay put this time. The GM shop manual called for 57 ft pounds initial torque then 45 degrees more.

No sir, pretty sure the manual quotes for 200 foot pounds of torque

Yes, 199 to be exact:

The "rear wheel drive shaft nut" is what we're talking about here. The "rear wheel drive shaft to drive flange bolts" that specify 37lb/ft (not 57) + 45-deg are the bolts on the inside that attach the halfshaft to the flange at the differential.

The manual that I refer to is the one the dealership referenced not mine. I have heard of 200# torque spec though. My torque wrench only goes to 150# so I did the 57# spec with the 45 degrees as suggested by the dealership, when I bought the new axle nuts. The red lock tight was my idea.

good luck if you ever need to get those off with red lock tight. Blue might have been a better choice.

Interesting. That picture I posted is straight from the factory service manual, so that's what dealership's techs should be using. Also, I agree with dpevans, red loctite may mean you have a permanent axle/hub assembly now!

Agreed. This topic has escaped me until this morning. I’ll be checking this as soon as I wake my car up in April/May.
