DiabloSport Trinity Tune for 6th Gen Camaro

I've been watching for this for some time and even called DiabloSport last week. Their web page says they now have a tune for the LT1 SS 6th gen.

http://www.diablosport.com/latest-re...ing-supported/

They claim 15 HP and 20 TQ...decent improvement for a canned tune. I have a Trinity and I'm going to try to download the tune tomorrow. Should be interesting.

I don't see them doing this for the v-6 may not be much call for that

Their site says they're working on the tunes for both. I have a Malibu turbo and I've heard there's huge HP gain potential in a simple tune. I wish they would release one for that car. GM uses the same engine in some sporty Cadillacs and a Diablo tune is available for that car. Go figure!

Trifecta's V6 tune does make a noticeable difference. Their I4 tune looks on paper to be quite significant. I would expect similar outcomes for Diablo sport, especially if they do TCM tunes too.

Anything on the 2017's? I heard they have different protection so the 16 won't work.

I don't know if the tune has changed for the 2017s, but I can't imagine why they would do that. I would give DiabloSport a call and see what they say about it. I had a Trinity tuner that I used on my 2010 Vette GS and of course the tunes are free downloads if you have the device...so why not give it a try?

I downloaded all of the new tunes from the Diablosport site and it updated my device automatically once I logged in. It took some time, since it apparently updates to the most current tunes for all the vehicles supported. I took the device to my 2016 Camaro SS and ran the install program via the instructions on the handheld device. It installed flawlessly.

I took the car for a short test drive. The day was clear and sunny but the temperature was cold in the high 30s and traction was limited.

I can tell you without a doubt, the tune made a noticeable difference in acceleration. It pulled really hard up to 80 mph with distinctly improved throttle response. I didn't notice any difference in the transmission response since shifts were already firm and fast. I tried a couple of pulls to 60 but wheel spin on the smooth asphalt road was present to the point that I had to let off. It spun the tires the same thing in second gear. When it did hook up, it pulled strongly.

DiabloSport claims +15 HP and 20 +TQ

presumably to the wheels. I believe it and it feels like at least that much. The device is pricey, but you can watch carefully on any member forum and buy it some cheaper used and as long as it isn't married to a VIN, you can use it on your 2016 Camaro and tons of other cars. Give it a try. I can't wait until the track reopens in the spring. I need to get my SS into the 11s which should be easy with the new found HP. The Trinity tune on my GS was worth about 2/10s in the quarter and a couple mph.

2017's require a PIN code to unlock the ECM which is pulled from an infolog on a dyno. It takes about a 1 to 2 day turnaround for GM to get the PIN Code to the tuner. Will probably be the same for any handheld they'll likely do a pre-config tune and have you unlock the ecm with the remote tuning device and upload it.

Looks pretty good. It would be interesting to see dyno results on this. Let us know how you like it after more driving time.

Dang...installed the tune, drove it once and it's been raining or snowing since then. Someday, I will get it out and get a better feel for any improvements. I'm curious if the EMS needs to "learn" the new tune before the engine optimizes????

I have always heard good results with the Diablosport tunes. I am waiting for the 2017 version to come out. Hope to hear more results on yours.

I don't know. Doesn't seem worth it to toss your warranty and pay that price for that little bit of gain. Especially compared to an e-85 flex tune.

unlike other devices, the diablo doesn't leave any trace of an ECU update, so much less likely to cause a warranty issue

any of the big tuners that do remote tunes can still give you a custom tune via the device as well (Ted for example charges just $160, or even free if you buy the other parts from him)

Has anyone ever flashed a tune that enabled the flex fuel option using the Diablo? If the Diablo does in fact not change the CVN that leaves a trace on the ECM that it was reflashed this would be a good thing to preserve warranty?

I am heading to Memphis International Raceway tomorrow for test n tune. I am really hoping for 11s and that should happen since my best to date is 12.09 with only a CAI. We'll see and I will post my time slips tomorrow.
