Puddle Lights

I finally finished this project. The install went easier than I thought it would, once I decided I would have to use an old fashion plunger switch to turn them off when the door is closed.

Yes, sort of...I replaced the gobos in a cheap set of puddle light projectors, with graphics I had printed out to color slides.

Very cool but surprised you had to make a switch. The Oracle puddle lights tap into one of the sources that only comes in when the dome light is on.

Wish stuff like this was stock. Rustangs have them.

Are you sure? The only wiring instructions I could find, involved connecting to circuits in the chassis. and I wanted to confine it to being completely in the door trim panel if possible. (As opposed to the 5th Gen where I had to leave a few feet of wire coiled up because the connections are inside the door behind the speaker.) There are battery positive and ground wires available at the main trim panel connectors. I used these ( https://smile.amazon.com/gp/product/...?ie=UTF8&psc=1 ), mounted in the forward face of the trim panel, about even with the speakers. It ended up being neat and tidy, and the trim panel comes away clean and self contained when/if it needs removing again. The switches are not really very noticeable under normal lighting and viewing angles.
Mine are only on when the door is open.

Yeah I’m pretty sure because Lenore who posts here and in Club Hot Wheels has both and in the Facebook group she managed to get a group buy from Oracle and we had discussions about how to wire so only come on when dome light on. I didn’t buy them. But I will see if she can give some insight.

@Liralen can you verify what I’m saying is true with the Oracle 50th puddle lights?

These are the somewhat vague instructions I got from the Oracle site. Perhaps this is why it seems that not many have installed theirs yet.

Yeah their instructions kinda suck to be honest. And yeah that would be my guess as well.

SHE'S BACK!!!

Got her back today. They replaced the #7 injector and now no more misfires. (Three parts in all along with the necessary seals and pipes.) Tech notes say that the fuel injector was sticking. Asked me about what fuel I use and I said "91". He asked if I use TopTier and I told him that I do my best to make sure I do. Not all stations that are on the "Brand List" post it on their pumps so there is some question. Although for the time being I'm exclusively using Costco.
This clears both my Cold Start Rough Idle and #7 Misfire codes. The tech notes mentioned to refer to this effort for also clearing the Stabilitrack issue. Hmmm.

They also took care of the Convertible partition recall. All I can tell is that the partition doesn't have as many fold points as before, just one at the "bottom". I figured they'd say something about my storing things under where the top stores 'cause I've got my towels and windscreen bag there. Not a word.

I gotta admit that I'm a little impressed with their service. Their willingness to allow me to meet the tech, the loaner Silverado (that was kinda cool) and just the overall feel I got from them. Their sister store on the south side of town didn't leave me feeling that way.

Now I just need to clean her up. Might try to go to the First Saturday's Car Show this weekend since I missed our group's cruise this past Sunday.

Then off to Bowling Green next week.

Where exactly do the lights go? I've seen them as factory options on the mirrors but obviously that's not the case here.

Looks good.

Awesome service. And glad you’re back in the saddle so to speak.

I only use top tier rated fuel myself and 93 octane.

Yeah, as you go West, and up, (somewhere in Kansas I think) you can only get 91.

I would say west of the Mississippi, but that’s not entirely accurate.
