Skip shift on dash but not active?

Had multiple fbodys. Very familiar with cags. However why does the skip shift 1-4 message display on screen but still lets me shift from 1st to 2nd sometimes? Searched but couldn't find this answer

Because you made it out of the skip shift "window" by the time you actually shifted.. I do it all the time just because I hate 1-4 shifting.

Yea you just drove up in the rpm from where it wanted you to shift. Even with the eliminator that message still shows all the time. Unless you remove it in the tune it will always be there.

Thanks guys. I assumed there was no way I was just pushing past the blocking pin. The owners manual would lead you to believe your gonna bend shift forks trying to get around cags

If you slow shift in that range, it lets you in usually.
