1. Both about the same
2. MSD 3. I'd use an LT2, but if you are also doing port injection, I've been told MSD can be modified for it. |

LT2 is a great option for a budget bolt on car IMO

i wonder how many threads comparing the msd and LT2 we can start in a years time.
msd is going to make more power every time. gain vs cost is on the end user.

From what I’ve research, MSD seems to be the clear winner with option 2. With option 1 and 3, there doesn’t seem to be a clear consensus. Obviously there’s a following of spend more = get more.

$275 versus $1200 is a no brainer imo.

the msd is going to make more power for a longer period of time vs LT2, in every scenario. as i expressed in the first post, the gain:$ justification is on the end user. ive had stock lt1, ported lt1, stock lt2, stock msd and ported msd on my car. the ported msd is making the most power and pulls the hardest above 5k.
best $:hp will be in the lt2, hands down. but i guess after you get beat by an msd car you can brag about how much money you saved.

the lt2 intake + e85 tune + full exhaust + 95 mm throttle body makes respectable power. Personally leaning hard in this direction with a small shot, even though I'd prefer mild boost. |

I guess that depends on your future plans. That Lt2 will never make the power if you decide to go Cam, headers, xpipe. If you want to make just ok power over the Lt1 then the Lt2 is for you. But if your future plans are to make bigger power at a higher RPM then you should make the decision to go with an Msd or even a ported Msd. No brainers are not always the way to look at it. But if someone wants to save some money and willing to pick up a little hp then go for it. Its all good either way.

Proof is in the pudding. But still some will argue test results, myself I trust GPI and have seen their cars run. They know their stuff.
https://youtu.be/bt55yZGEdoE GM Performance race team developers have some pretty good engineers. BTW a good drag car is not only made by the intake manifold, there are a lot more important parts. The Difference between the MSD and LT2 under these test conditions are not overwhelming, there pretty close in comparison, you can’t go wrong with either IMO except the price. As the video says make no mistake the MSD is the HP King but not by much, and that’s referring to a ported MSD that was not tested in the video.

The Lt2 will be better for boost just based off the fact that MSDs quality control sucks and they are known to separate under boost. Some people are even running a line of silicone around the perimeter of the MSD to keep it from leaking without boost.

Almost forgot to include Pray in this discussion. Here’s a couple good reads on this topic and especially porting. Prays work and data is important to compare. https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=577766 https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=494652 The last thing I will add is from a video from GPI making a point about porting a LT2 for a 95MM/103MM TB and concerns about boosting pressure around the neck/thoart of the TB area entrance with porting. MSD will have an advantage there because porting that area will be a true 103MM with no bottle neck area. https://youtu.be/rZSprqJHA9I Pick which ever manifold is right for you, they all seem pretty good. If cash is not a problem for you then the true way to go would be a low profile Frankenstein intake manifold but that’s $5,000.

For the price I’m going LT2 w/E85. However I plan on adding a 2650 in a year or two. If I was planning on an all out n/a build I’d go MSD. But for a short term inexpensive bump in power LT2 is the ticket (for me).
