more info on the A10
I found the trans volumes for both the ZLE and ZL1 w/ A10
It says that fluid needed for dropping the pan and changing the filter is approx 8.1qts for the ZLE (RPO code A1Z) and 8.7qts for the ZL1. That seems way too much The 2020 ZL1 and ZLE both come with the MI4 transmission

That's crazy... why did you change it out then?
We had a guy who was a pro caliber driver run a session at NCM and overheated the trans. That was when the A10 1st came out. I never had any issues but not driving near like he was. Quote:
Good info. I might steal that for the All the Facts thread. |

Fluid level was reduced to keep from windage & foaming / aeration which causes temp increases. Worse on sticky tires & aero which increases the lateral loads (of course). Not saying you get zero of that with an A10 regular ZL1 on G3's. Now, if his TCM "accidentally" got reprogrammed with the more race-car like cal from a ZL1 1LE A10...

More on 2020 A10 trans servicing
This is the second time I've serviced the transmission and filter
The 2 bolts holding the trans filter are also bolts for mounting the valve body. They are aluminum single use torque + degree bolts. They can only be purchased as part of a kit # 24298876 that has all of the single use bolts for the valve body. The kit is pretty cheap < $15, I purchased the kit from my local dealer. They are aluminum, without thread locker or sealant applied. This picture is of the bolt that came out of the transmission, I reused it once..........I did not know it was single use, but since it was aluminum I investigated it further. The GM spec for it is M6x85, they now measure a little over 86mm long (they've been used twice). The torque is to be: First pass 44 lb-in, 2nd pass 128 degrees. I just snugged the new ones up. I have ordered some 10.9 flanged bolts to put in the next time I service the trans. The pdf is the instruction sheet for the bolt kit One other thing, the pan bolt torque spec is 93 lb-in. That is quite a bit and I didn't feel comfortable going that high. The OE gasket is very good, I haven't had any leaks reusing it even though using a lower torque on the pan bolts.

Vented Front Pistons
I had vented pistons on the 1LE, bought the complete red C7 calipers. I truly think that the pads/rotors lasted longer. So, I bought the parts and started the install today, I got the driver's side done this evening.
What was needed: GM 19207043: Front Piston Kit (6 pistons/seals), one kit does one caliper GM 21012386: Caliper Banjo Washers, need 4 - bought extras (a good thing) GM 19207044: Front Boot Kit (6 boots) Brake fluid of your choice, mine is ATE Amber 200 It's pretty straight forward. remove caliper from car Put an M10 bolt (so it centers the washers) through the banjo with good copper washers and tighten (the extra washers). It still drips, but very slowly through the threads of the bolt. But it gives plenty of time to swap pistons, seals and boots without concern about running the reservoir dry & you don't have to pinch the brake hose causing possible damage. Place a short piece of 2x8 board between the pistons as a cushion. Apply ~ 25psi into the banjo port, all pistons then extend fully. Pull everything out, clean and reassemble. A few of the old boots tore during removal.

Looks like a great idea. I need to rebuild mine with vented pistons, of course they will be different part numbers. Did you happen to compare the ones from Racing Brakes vs GM?

Whether they are the bigger calipers found on the: -Gen6 ZL1 -Gen5 Z/28 (CCM) -C6 ZR1 (CCM) -C7 ZO6/GS/ZR1 (CCM) -Gen3 CTS-V or the smaller calipers found on the: -Gen6 SS 1LE -Gen5 ZL1 -C7 ZO6/GS -Gen2 CTS-V -ATS-V There are however two different part #s for the vented piston kit, but it depends on whether they are iron or CCM brakes 23242510 J56 Corvette (iron rotors) 19207043 J57 Corvette/Gen5 Z/28 (CCM rotors)

Also, Centric piston seal kit part #143.35037 will work on all of the above applications.

does anyone have a set of the iron rotor pistons (23242510)?
the CCM rotor pistons (19207043) are hollow and quite light, wonder if that is the difference between the two numbers..., possibly designed for a higher heat environment?? more or less heat transfer to the caliper block and fluid?? Oh, something else. Inspect the pistons when you get them, Brembo does a poor job of packaging and they apparently get damaged easily. I ended up going through several sets before I got all good pistons

They look similar, But I don't have any pictures of the vented insert out of the piston. When i rebuilt mine last winter, some of the inserts were free of the piston. I could pull the vented insert out of the piston. I do not recall how hollow my pistons were. Since I could not recall the inserts being held tight within the piston, and it looked as if there was some sort of remnants of a retaining fluid holding them together, I felt it would be better to use some Loctitie 603 retaining fluid. Were your inserts free to come out of the pistons?
