I had the same problem. In my case it was because I didnt open the trunk very often and the weather seal around the trunk opening was sticking to the trunk lid. I cleaned the seal and the area on the trunk lid it makes contact with and applied a ceramic detail spray to the same areas and no problems since. My car is also a 2023.

My 2023 has done this a few times. I hear the release but trunk does not open. I tried lifting it but couldn’t. Waited a min and hit the button again and it pops up. Odd.

The "poppers" may need a little adjustment and/or the latch might be binding a bit. When the trunk won't open, people tend to do two things: first, push down on it and simultaneously press the button until it opens, then adjust the poppers slightly; and second, lubricate the latch with lithium grease. See these threads below.

I had the same problem with my 2023. I tried lubing the weatherstripping with gummi pledge and it didn’t help. I greased the inside of the latch striker area and it hasn’t stuck shut since.

My 2017 does that every once in a while when I use the trunk release above the license plate. I hardly ever use the the button on the door panel.

Low battery was the cause when this happened

A squirt of lithium grease fixed mine. Also 2023.

I believe there was a recent repair procedure released by GM. It was for the 23 and 24 models. It had to do with the emergency release in the trunk.

My 23 also does this and will try the lithium grease.

Yes, there IS a current recall on this. The emrgency release is not properly seated in position and needs to be adjusted.

my 19 does this and it's because it's shut all the way, but it's not.... When this happens, I just push down on the trunk to lock it again and it pops right up the next time. It's weird. But since I'm in Thailand, I'm not spending time on this until all else is done with my project.
