Headers Installed w/catted connection - Extremely Loud!

I had the Texas Speed headers with catted connection pipes installed (AWE Touring exhaust) and now my car is way too loud. I like loud cars but this thing is ridiculous. I don’t even enjoy stomping on it anymore. I know some of you will scoff at this, but I’m looking for suggestions to tone it down. Are there good options for resonators or a different set of cats to replace the ones Texas Speed provided? I’m actually curious if they accidentally gave me the off road version instead because I have a hard time believing this is normal for this setup. I also noticed a much more pronounced gas smell which I thought was only a side effect of a cat delete.

Try putting the OE Suitcase back on. I just traded in a 2SS with Npp in for a ZL1 and the ZL1 is MUCH louder even with the NPP. I can't imagine what headers do to these cars for sound.

To loud

I installed borla resonators before my x pipe Really helped with noise. I don’t know if they still make them or not. But I am catless also. Hope that helps.

Probably need some sort of NPP style muffler to quiet it down when you don't want the loudness. I have headers and EOM NPP on my corvette and I wouldn't do it any other way. I had a similar issue with a V6 Camaro headers and exhaust and similar to your comments it was nasty drone and too loud to enjoy it and that was V6.

There are some aftermarket NPP or try to go back to stock NPP.

How was the install of the TS headers?

Looks like I should have searched the forums first. A lot of people have had similar issues. I think I’m going to try the Magnaflow muffler solution (https://www.magnaflow.com/products/1...rmance-muffler) to see if that helps. It’s relatively inexpensive so if I don’t like it I can try something else.

I would first ensure you do have cats in place although it is quite normal for these cars to get quite loud with headers. If you do still have cats and it's too loud for you, you can replace the AWE exhaust with the stock exhaust or buy an aftermarket exhaust with valves such as the Borla S-Type. Personally, I'm fine with the AWE resonated touring exhaust, headers and high flow cats but I did install a set of Vibrant 1795 resonators in place of the AWE resonators, it helped smooth the sound some but of course it's still quite loud.

I have one of these mufflers brand new in the box if you want to buy it. I was going to go that route but went a different way. $80 plus shipping and it's yours.

Call AWE and get the resonated section for your exhaust.

It's all subjective but I had Kooks catless headers, Borla mid/x-pipes (resonated), and Borla S-Type mufflers and thought it was too loud. I added the Magnaflow muffler and it quieted it a lot, kind of too much. I ended up ditching the Magnaflow and swapping the S-Type for a stock suitcase. Now it's loud when floored but very manageable otherwise, albeit does have a higher pitch to it. I'd checkout KingLT1's idea first before cutting up your exhaust though a resonator probably won't do as much as you'd like for sound level.

I'm sure you've seen this: https://www.camaro6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=576096

Which AWE system do you have? AWE does make resonators, which could tone it down.

Nope, can confirm that is not the answer. Lol

Edit: I did the additional Magnaflow muffler too and it really helped.

Have CSP 2” headers with off-road pipe to NPP exhaust. It’s the best of both worlds!

One member on here suggested vibrant 1795 resonators. Has your same setup. Said the awe resonators didn’t quite get the job done
