I give the car some light gas, enough to down shift.
I notice there is a moment where the car goes from epic-quite to then rumbly quiet.
Then a moment later the car downshifts and it gets loud and I take off.

This all happens very quickly so not a complaint, just trying to deconstruct.

This does not happen in manual mode.

I've not read any literature but I'm guessing the ZLE A10 has V4 mode and I'm in V4 mode when cruising along in full-auto ?

My only minor-complaint is that the car is super quiet when cruising along in full-auto. Much quieter than the M6.

I'm going to guess this is also true for the regular ZL1 A10 ?

We don't have the V4 crap in our cars, All 8 working all the time!

+1 this.

Angrybits, you're hearing the NPP open back up. It will close when cruising at light throttle to avoid drone.

Partially off topic but...

This was the biggest difference I noticed when adding my Corsa system on (other than the obvious increase in volume and pitch).

Even in track mode with stock exhaust, if you were just cruising on the freeway, you could be stealthy if you kept a light foot, not so with the Corsa that does not have the valves. Any application of throttle and that exhaust rumble is there.

Not complaining, but there are certain times when I miss that stealthiness on the freeway when just cruising along

I do this. But it’s good to see people have the opportunity to get a car optioned the way they want. Also glad to see you stayed in the Camaro family.

Very curious if you see the same timing issues as your previous cars.

Having had multiple C5 Z06's, C6 Z06, and now the SS 1LE, I do know that their timing tables are VERY sensitive.

It is just how GM tunes their performance cars. It becomes more apparent when you get an aftermarket exhaust as you can hear the tonality changes happen as the engine adjusts its timing tables. Some times the sound is crisp, tight, loud. Other times it's muffled and loses that crisp/tight sound and just sounds muddied.

Yes, exactly this.

I didn't notice on previous cars because they were all manual and I tend to run a bit higher RPM than where this A10 likes to rest.

But what you describe sounds spot on. The tone is quiet/muddy, then immediately becomes crisp and louder.

I assumed V4, but timing makes sense too. "Gas Saver Timing"

Now I wonder if manual-mode with the A10 is less prone to this because I only noticed it in auto-mode. It could be because I tend to run at a higher RPM in manual-mode, or maybe the timing is a bit more aggressive in manual-mode?

Either way, happy to hear we didn't get V4!

I admit... I did consider a Hellcat Redeye for a moment. Brief moment.

They are not equal cars. One is a big boat king of the straights. The other is a well balanced king of road course.

Not equal for sure, but I have no doubt they compete in sales.

I had to take my new ZLE A10 in today for some small things and while I waited I sat in a Red Eye. Dealership had 3 of them and wanted 117k. So silly. Sales guy said they sold one yesterday for that price. I wanna call "BS" but some people are

Guess that's why they had 3. Didn't know they were that scarce.
