You Tuber is Hard on T4's at 80,000 miles

Apparently it's still true, smaller engines have to work harder.

He doesn't really talk about the engine wear. He did say he rebuilt it but not why.

Platinum and iridium spark plugs are good for far more than 30K miles. Premature failure has less to do with "weak and tear" and more to do with fouling caused by other issues.

Sounds like he put in forged stuff to make more power later. Not due to the engine actually needing a rebuild. Interesting comments on the mounts he says are "worn"

So the engine was out of the car and now there are motor mount issues... at 80,000 miles.

sounds like it was driven hard and often...im thinking it would last a lot better if driven normally.

Someone should’ve told him the Camaro already comes assembled... beware when you try and reinvent the wheel.

I agree, mods aren't necessary, 6th Gens are perfect as stock. If he wanted more sound & long term wear, should have bought V6. If he wanted more power, a V8. But he already bought the 2016 new & really 80,000 miles, wth?

That's why I went V6, tried & true. Not new Turbo 4 experiment.

He's not really the best example the guy who "rebuilt" his motor is a joke at the most. He rebuilt because he thought he had piston issues what actually happened was the shitty rubber GM intercooler pipes got rotted from oil pooling another reason for catch cans. He also had an RPM-MotorsportsAZ tune which has destroyed several cars. He does a lot of videos but his review isn't really what anyone modding the I4 Turbo would say. As far as the I4 Turbo being an experiment it's just the upgraded version of the cobalt turbo engine and was in the ATS since '13 so saying it's an experiment isn't really an informed statement.

Correct, while not my cup of tea that engine has been around. But hey, it's a new experiment because some guy on the internet said it was.
