ZL1 1LE - Day 1, Better than my Z06

Transitioning from a 2017 Z06 w/ Z07 M7 to a 2018 ZL1 1LE M6.

I gotta say, the ZL1 1LE *feels* better.

- Turn in and responsiveness on the ZL1 1LE is better. I know that sounds crazy because its heavier, but I'm guessing its the lack of rubber bushings, lighter 19" wheels and DSSV? Not sure but when I man-handle the steering wheel the ZL1 1LE responds quicker, less body roll -- even compared to the Z06 w/ Z07 in track mode.

- While the suspension does enjoy communicating every pebble on the road, it is also more flat, more predictable. Granted I have not yet tracked my ZL1 1LE I have already put over 100 miles on it in the twisties. (I did say Day 1 in the title).

- Seats. I had the standard seats in the Z06 not the competition seats so I can't speak to those. However standard seats to standard seats, ZL1 1LE seats are incredibly good. Very well bolstered, they hold my legs up in just the right way. The alcantara creates a nice non-slip surface.

- ZL1 feels like a more expensive car inside. Alcantara everywhere and every surface feels solid and durable. On the Z06, it was nice but a lot of plastic and hollow sounds when touched.

- Leg room. I'm 6'4 and it took me months to find the optimal seat position in the Z06 and I was never quite comfortable. ZL1 took me about 5 minutes and there was this immediate sigh of relief.

- Rear seat. Now my 2yr daughter can come along. She giggles and yells "we going fast now daddy?" hehehe. This one alone trumps the Z06.

EDIT: I just thought of another feature I LOVE 80% HATE 20%.
- Something I always disliked about my 2015 ZL1, 2017 Grand Sport, 2017 Z06 was I really wanted the suspension firmness in track mode 80% of the time because I like that firm ride and immediate responsiveness. However the traction control was tied to the drive mode. I usually wanted Track/Race firmness but Touring traction control on the street and maybe PTM Sport 1 at the track.
With the 2018 ZL1 1LE I now have 100% Track/Race no matter what (which I love except when my wife is in the car [aka 20%]) but I can switch between any traction control level I want. I really like this. Though to be honest I think it would have been smarter if Chevy allowed us to create our own fully programmable modes: IE: Press of button changes steering, sound, suspension firmness, traction control and active handling to whatever independent configuration I want. #CHEVY_WISHLIST

We'll see how she feels at the track

She being your 2 year old daughter.....or the car?!?

Congrats on your new Camaro and it's awesome that you're teaching your daughter to enjoy it too!

HAHAHA I think my daughter would love a trip to the track but I'm pretty sure someone would revoke my parenting license

I haven't set foot in a CTS-V but I considered one on paper. My gut said the Z would be more fun but the V is roomier. The back seats in the Z are almost unusable. I also considered a Dodge Demon.

Ultimately I decided my wife's car can be the roomier car

If my daughter gets too big for the back seat, then its time for a new car

Wait til you track it. Puts the power down much better than the z06 chassis. The suspension is perfect on the track as well.

Awesome! Did you get a good deal? Seems to be a lot of black and white ZLEs on the lots all over the country.

Love the rear seat conversation. My 7 years old son said the other day "Dad, your ZL1 must handles better than your M3, because you go through the roundabout faster in ZL1". Priceless moment!

It's so nice to see our kids appreciate the finer things <3

My kids are the same way. 4yr old twin boys. "Daddy, your car has a mean face." "Daddy the front of your car looks angry." "It sounds like an angry dinosaur." LOL! They love being picked up in the "Gray car with the big wing".

My son refers it as the mad face But he likes 1LE aero the best. One day he almost decided to save his allowance to help me to upgrade to 1LE aero.

The suspension settings on the C7 can’t be configured independently like on the Camaro? I’m referring to the regular ZL1, not your 1LE.
