Mike, do you use Mobil 1 Synthetic LV ATF HP? There are several synthetic options

Would Redline D6 ATF be better than D4?

I recently changed using ACDelco 10-4033.

1-2 shift is easier to grind since it gives you a false sense of getting fully into the gate and you get the grind when you let off the clutch.

Redline oil recommends the D4 for our cars. I will be using Redline for the trans as I used MTL in my 1997 M3 that was at 207K miles with the original tranny including about 1800 autocross runs.
Question: Does anyone change out the GM fluid for Redline before they get to the 15 hours of track time? A pre-emptive change? Thinking of changing at 1500 miles with the differential.

how often do you guys change the manual tranny fluid? I have 8k miles on my 20 ss 1le, still on the original factory fluid. I dont drive it much obviously, and never track it, just spin around town a few times a week.

Can't really go by the owners manual on this. For example, it says you don't need to change the rear diff fluid for a while, but based on this board, I changed mine twice already, and it really needed it, and now I do it every year regardless. Haven't thought of doing the manual trans fluid yet, but now I'm thinking....

The diff defo needs a break in period, but the tranny doesnt, so very different considerations here. However, I would change the tranny fluid based on the fact, that it is now 4 yrs old. Hope this helps. Cheers!

I'm doing an annual change for my diff and tranny, but I am putting about 8 on the car each year, with lots of autocross runs and 2-3 track days per year. It definitely shifts better with fresh fluid in it.
