ScanTool OBDLink LX - purchased about about 4 years ago, long before camaro - there is another version (MX) that has more GM friendly software, but LX is FAST and works well enough as generic device for basic PID's.

The Solo 2 DL/Smarty cam setup is okay. The pros are, once you get it setup up, you don't have to worry about it. It will auto power on, knows what track you're at (usually), automatically overlays the data from the Solo 2 onto the video footage.
The cons are, the Smartycam video quality sucks. It maxes out at 720p@30FPS, which is super low by todays standards. The initial setup can also be a bit of a pain. I think the best solution is to have the Solo 2 DL collect the data, use a GoPro 8 (or equivalent) for the video, then use something like RaceRender to overlay the data on top of the video. The cons to this is obviously it takes more effort to produce a video. |

I could save $25K if I went with a C7 Z06 Z07, but I'd still be over $80K AND have to worry about after market cooling. I'm trying to stop modding my cars and rely on factory engineering as much as possible for a while.

This is the go to solution for most all hardcore track e enthusiasts. It will give you great video and all the data you need. I have PDR and also a solo dl2. Have considered the smarty cam as well in place of go pro for other POVs and overlays seamlessly with the solo.
If you can get a good deal def go for it. PDR is def awesome but not a deal killer IMO! |
