Mine had 5. Dealer I purchased from doesn’t allow test drives on their top shelf cars prior to purchase. And that was just fine with me.

So you're saying you don't do the 500mile under 4k RPM guideline? If not how long do you wait before giving it the goods? |

Many engine builders will tell you that the only way to insure the piston rings get bedded in properly is to hammer it right from the start. When the 5th gen ZL1's came out, the break-in period was listed as 1,500 miles. GM would never reveal WHY 1,500 miles. Was it for the engine? the trans?, etc..... Perhaps it wasn't for the car at all, it was for the driver. After all these were cars with 580hp. Let the driver get used to the power, etc, BEFORE they go hammer time?? Noone knows for sure. When I picked up my ZL1, as soon as I left the lot and was on the road, I punched it and almost immediately hit the rev limiter. Ooops. Other than that, I did indeed follow the GM Break-in procedure for the entire 1,500 miles. I didn't want to jeopardize my warranty. |

Just look at the back tires. If they have the same “tits” molding marks on the tread as the front it has not been abused.

Mine had 8.
You can do plenty of burnouts in 1 mile. Don't stress about it. Engines these days come with pretty tight tolerances and a lot of the burrs are removed, I think a few WOTS from the dealership guys won't hurt.

Mine had 3 when I drove it off the showroom floor. They let me test drive it, reluctantly, so it officially had 7 on it when I signed on the dotted line. That said, I personally wouldn’t have an issue with 14.

Who cares man buy it and drive it hard you’ll probably end up selling it before you put 20 k miles on it anyway. Plenty of people out there believe in a hard break in anyway.

You’re right. I didn’t keep my 12 ZL1 but a year and it was really low on the miles. I just don’t want an oil burner from being too easy or hard on it. The challenge driving home will be finding a way to get some acceleration and deceleration runs in without getting a ticket. I can’t wait until I get home to do the runs since it will have over 400 on it by then and I will have missed the break in window.

People here talk about the break in, spend thousands on clear paint protection, ceramic coat everything, change the fluids out every 6.5 miles, then it's listed for sale a year later at a $20k loss. Unless you plan on keeping this car for life, put gas in it and go. It's a Camaro. |

Same. I bought mine before it had arrived at the dealer, so when I first started it up it had 3 miles on it.

Mine had 13, still had everything covered inside. Which they removed for me to test drive so either they fooled me or no one else test drove it

I picked up my ‘18 SS with 19 miles on the odometer. You should be fine with 14. Enjoy the new ride
