Product Review: BMR Lockout Kit

Installed BMR lockout kit on my ZL1 today. Very straightforward install takes maybe 1.5 hours. Even minimal mechanical skill it won't take long. Instructions are helpful and easy. No pictures of them installed not really anything to see.

I have Nitto 555 G2s in stock sizes and before they would do side to side bs under hard acceleration. That's all been removed. They spin from a low roll but car stays completely straight. From highway speeds it just hooks and goes. The rear definitely feels more planted around turns as well but Texas is flat and haven't hit any twisties yet. Will be doing a road course on Sunday and update accordingly.

I also have a drag pack, car cuts 1.6 60s like clockwork and it's definitely given the feeling that the launch will improve. Will test that butt dyno in a couple weeks and update accordingly. Product is 100% worth it. Only regret is not doing this sooner.

I put this kit on my 17 1 le, and ended up selling it but the kit worked so well I just bought it again for my zl1. Haven’t had my z out of storage yet but I have already installed kit. Glad to hear it helped, can’t wait try mine.

Amazing how these cars handle with that one upgrade. I went the ZL1 1LE solid cradle bushing kit, but either way you go, the difference is pretty substantial to really tame that rear-end.

It is the only weak point in the ZL1 / SS 1LE suspension.

amazing difference with the lockout kit...simple install compared to the solid bushings. Either way, you can't go wrong.

Installation looks pretty simple from the instructions...

No need for alignment after install?

No goofy torque to yield bolts involved?

It's as simple as it appears. No TTY bolts. I can't answer for certain on the alignment. Maybe someone else can chime in? Even if it does need one my opinion doesn't change about it being worthwhile. You'll be pleasantly surprised what a difference it makes.

No TTY bolts, alignment isn't absolutely necessary. I suppose someone here could argue (I'm sure they will ) an alignment would be the "perfect" way. The way this lockout kit installs it didn't seem possible anything could move. No camber bolts are removed and/or loosened. I suppose you could get really sloppy and have the cradle in a bind when retorquing the cradle bushings and botch the alignment.

Thanks!

Gonna add this one to the list. I was planning on the ZLE bushings, but this looks a lot easier.

Production description reads: "Once installed, the Cradle Bushing Lockout Kit minimized bushing and cradle deflection with nearly no change in NVH."

Am curious to hear what others have noticed in a straight ZL1after install.

I am really not happy with the side to side (for me, ass end wants wants to slide left) on hard accel.

I used to take off straight but over time it now kicks to the right, hopefully this will change that! Thanks for sharing!

As mentioned in the original post it will remove the side to side movement. I didn't mention NVH but I couldn't tell any change. It did not add any NVH.

No added NVH here with the ZL1 1LE solid cradle bushings. I would imagine the same would be true with the lock-out kit.

Just ordered one up. Looked like most places had the same delivery time, so just I grabbed it off Amazon.

Should be here in plenty of time to install it before our next track day.
