A8 cooling

Do you guys know if the A8 has the same additional cooling that GM added to the 2016 Corvette (Z51)? They had a ton a problems with them overheating and added additional cooling to the 16's. I have to assume this is also part of the package in 1SS or 2SS Camaro, but wanted to verify before I submitted my order. Thanks.

I'm really close to pulling the trigger. Can anyone share anything that they know about the A8 that I may have missed? I'm probably going to add a blower and do a cam job on my car. I've heard that you don't want to exceed 550 rwhp with the A8, but are safe up to that point. Is that everyone's understanding as well?

I still have the A8 overheating question unanswered. I've posted the question several times here and have googled elsewhere.

We know the A8 overheated in the Vette, but all I've heard with regards to fixing it is that "it's probably fixed for the Camaro"

Begging for a straight answer on this and if the answer to OP's question is "yes" ... does it actually remedy the issue?

Might want to ask FenwickHockey65, in General automotive. He seems to be the guru of information on this forum.

Thanks for the response. I'm going to look for a mechanical layout of the car. If it shows additional cooling for transmission (there would be 3 fluid cooling mechanisms I believe), we shouldn't have anything to worry about. I'm positive that this was fixed in the 2016 Corvette by the additional cooling.

I have probably read 20 different reviews of the new Camaro, several of which were done on a track. If there were cooling issues similar to the ones that were reported with the new vette, we would have heard about them by now.

From my understanding the SS A8 auto comes with additional cooling.

SS is track-prepped with auxiliary radiators, differential cooler and transmission cooler

Who told you that? It's obviously incorrect being that a stock Z06 makes more then that and has the A8 as a option.

The Corvette A8 is the same transmission in a completely different package, so that's an apples to oranges comparison. The C7 transmission is in the rear of the car with the differential, and a shaft that connects it to the engine. The Camaro has a traditional setup with the transmission connected to the engine, and a shaft to the differential. It would be more appropriate to compare the 8L90 in the CTS-V and ATS-V rather than the Corvette. In fact the ATS and CTS are on the same chassis (Alpha), and the ATS-V has a transmission cooler in the same location as the Camaro. Much more apples to apples comparison. Haven't heard of any issues.

4. The automatic transmission cooler is horizontal

At the bottom of the box formed by the V-8’s three radiators lies a horizontally mounted transmission cooler, through which air flows downward.

Unfortunately, until the new SS cars are tracked in summer heat conditions, we will NOT know for sure how good or bad the new Camaro stays cool when being pushed under actual track conditions during the summer. Until then, everyone is 'assuming' that the coolers will work. Of course the 14 & 15 C7's were also supposed to stay cool under track conditions, but that did not pan out too well.
