2.0T Camaro Dragstrip Question.

Hoping for useful answers here from those who actually know not just theorized verdicts. In July i'll be going to camarofest 8 for fun and a lot of drag racing where they will be using pro tree. my question is can an A8 bump into the box to build better boost or do i need to add something to my car to be able to do it.

on slicks/skinnies, and stock turbo, the stock brakes were barely able to hold the car back at the line. i did not find any need for any sort of WOT box, or 2 step yet, you just have to be careful, and make sure you bump the 2nd set of lights with some sort of commitment to brake torquing already taking place

i did a 1.61 60' with no sort of 2 step or anything like that.

Gotcha so practice during test and tune is a good idea. I may have drag radials by then atleast.

unless you plan to be on REALLY sticky tires, or making a TON of power, you are not going to be limited by off launch boost, as much as you will be limited by traction. you can build plenty of boost with the stock soft limiter in place

Yeah, start building RPM and boost when you trip the first bulb, let up on the brake a hair to move slightly forward to the 2nd beam, stuff the brake and the gas, when you see the 3 lights start to flash, remove brake pressure and hold on! I've only driven A8 ATS, but was able to brake torque it to 3k rpm with ease.

ZZP, any ideas how I can build boost with my M6?

what about a bigger turbo on a a6 what would you recommend doing to build boost? brake boosting won't build enough boost at all.

Go buy a transbrake setup or bump box.

BRB, gonna go trade in the Camaro and ATS for an EBM... They have way cooler toys.

We should start a new thread to discuss this... After doing a little digging, I see that some ford guys are "building their own" "trans-brake" using nothing more that some external relays, wire tapping, and a couple switches/buttons... Maybe we can do something similar??
