Upshift Required... Engine Protection Mode On ???
Has anyone with the A10 ever had the warning “Upshift Required... Engine Protection Mode On” come up while tracking the car?
If so, do they know why it came up? What the cause was? Also I’d like to know how was it resolved This warning came up several times during my first 20 minute track session since the crash, however I actually believe that this warning was coming up the day of the crash, but I’m a little foggy since the crash became the main issue that day and it was 2 months ago. When it came up today I dismissed it, but I did feel the car shifting funny a couple times, it felt like a lurch like fuel starvation, but it wasn’t so bad that I really paid a lot of attention to it until I saw the actual warning. The other times the warning came up I couldn’t even tell why it came up, the car felt fine. I’d appreciate any tips or advice regarding this issue. I’m concerned it’s going to be hard for the dealership to do anything about this because it only comes up at the track.

I don't know what's going on
I'd look at the PDR data and look at the trans temperature on the laps it happened. Then I'd check the fluid level as per GM procedure. Have you serviced the trans at the recommended interval? For a 2020, it's every 15 track hours. Good luck and let us know what you find

I didn’t know that PDR had trans temperature recorded.
The transmission fluid was topped up after the transmission intercooler was replaced last month after the crash, I assume that’s all part of the same and only transmission fluid. This same problem started before the crash happened.

Was the tranny fluid topped up, or replaced? I assume they did the latter? I change all my fluids every 5-6 days max (except for brake fluid). Either way, i am guessing something else is going on, as a tranny in full auto mode should not be throwing "up shift" warnings. This seems completely illogical to me, unless there is a problem. I'd take it to a dealer for a warranty service. If they cannot figure it out, they have escalation contacts they can call. Best of luck! |

Wet sump issues.
1. You may need a windage tray to control oil in the pan. 2. Run recommended oil viscosity for the track. 3. Check to make sure the sensor is not faulty. Just a few things to check or try. |

Interesting. Why would oiling issues cause a tranny to lurch? Never heard of anyone having to mod an oil pan on gen6, including running slicks. Can you elaborate pls. Thanks!

after you select a file, click on 'stats' (at the top left), then click on 'vehicle health'
It'll show max and min trans temps for each lap there's lots of info available in the cosworth program
