Toyo Proxes RR - Anyone run them?
These tires seem really affordable and come in sizes I can use....anyone have experience with them in our cars?
Searching didn't really reveal anything..... https://www.tirerack.com/tires/tires...odel=Proxes+RR Ken |

I was researching the same thing. I never ran them, but was told to stick with 3R's based on the feedback from others.

OK so the very best way to control you tire costs for us road rats is to invest in a set of 18 inch wheels like APEX 18 x 11 ET25 EC7 (in my case) because of the good availability of RACE CAR tire Scrubs in that 18 inch wheel diameter. That will set you back about 1500 dollars BUT then you can readily purchase MICHELIN or PIRELLI slicks in sizes 305 660 18 (Pirelli) or 30 65 18 for 100-125 dollars a tire including shipping You will be 6-7 seconds FASTER on these SCRUBS than on your street tires. If you run a SQUARE setup like some of us you can rotate your tires to help extend their life . A good scrub has less than 4 heat cycles and they will be effective for around 12 heat cycles. Since I run 2-3 track events a month now, I usually buy a set of scrubs every 4-6 weeks. The SCRUBS will last LONGER than a new 3R and will brake and handle better but to be most effective you will need to run a race pad like a HAWK DTC70 on the front and a DTC60 on the rear. You will also need hi temp brake fluid and stainless steel brake lines are useful. Every track day I change out by brake pads to DTC 70's and 60's and run the 18 inch wheels with slicks. It takes me about an hour and a half to change all the wheels and brake pads out. I have found that the MICHELIN slicks are a LITTLE stickier than the PIRELLI's but the PIRELLIS last longer. I am just NOW replacing the DTC70 brake pads after about four months of track use. The REAR pads still have 60% life left. I had to run my STREET setup the other day which is my APEX 19 x 10.5 wheels wrapped with MS 4S 305 30 19 tires (300 TW). I had to absolutely drive the shit out the car at Eagles Canyon Raceway CCW and I ran a best of 2.10 compared to a 2.04 with the 18's and Pirelli slicks. With the street tires I had to leave the NANNIES on and with the slicks I leave the nannies OFF. The BIGGEST diffrenece to me between the two is the better BRAKING and FASTER entry and exit speeds that you get using the slicks.

YES I have run the 30 65 18 Michelins and the 305 660 18 pirellis and the 305 680 18 pirellis. the 680 is a little tall in my opinion on the Pirellis. I would run 660's all the way around on the Pirellis and the 30 65 18 Michelins on all four corners as well. I prefer the MICHELINS as I said before but there isnt that much difference in the two. The MICHELINS I believe are a little SOFTER compound.

I ran these tires with NASA in 2020 with 50whp more than I currently have and being polite.. I hated them, with a passion. When I moved to Hoosiers and dropped 50whp, I went 2+ seconds faster immediately. So for competition I would say use your money on something else, for just track days, I could see someone enjoying them as they last a very long time. But I am not an amazing driver by any stretch, so it's very possible that someone else could love these tires and could make them work.

I ran a 2.10 on 300TW MS 4S tires at Eagles Canyon and a 2.04 on Pirelli Slicks or approximately 6 seconds faster. I had to absolutely drive the shit out of the car with the MS 4S tires but the time gap between a slick and a street tire will be narrower as you get more skilled at driving. A year ago for me for instance the gap would probably be 10-12 seconds between the slicks and the street tires.

I will try this year and post the results, I purchased a new set of 3Rs in stock 1Le size, I’ll see how much faster they are then the regular G3’s, I used last year Once those are worn out I’m going for RRs |
