Yah I've been looking for a manual gray zl1 in the northeast with a sunroof. Its not going well. Most are autos. WTF this is a sports car! Its a troubling trend.

I learned to ignore the dealer descriptions. I've seen a lot of errors regarding auto vs manual.
A local dealer is advertising a ZL1 with an 8 speed auto. Strange stuff. You have to dig a little deeper and look at pics etc.. |

I said the same thing about manuals but drive the A10 before you knock it. I went from the 6speed in my C6 Vette to my ZL1 A10, would not even consider pushing a clutch again unless it is a 67' with a 4 speed.

I did drive it... mid corner, hit gas for quick exit, it thinks about it, then shifts..upsets the car slightly... no thanks.

Because there are ordering constraints doesn't mean there was a set number of vehicles available, again as an example, the 5th Gen ZL1, that's what I'm saying, I do realize people who went early on that didn't realize the constraints were disappointed but those who waited and waited and waited like a hawk for ANY info knew the deal from the get go. It's unfortunate certain states don't get to order Hi-Po models....

An important element of this that everyone seems to be overlooking is the CART regulations. Every auto manufacturer must meet certain emissions numbers for their FLEET. The FLEET consists of: every car made for that model year. The more high performance, or otherwise high-emitting vehicles they produce that don't meet certain MPG figures is detrimental to the fleet aggregate. The fines and penalties are in the stratosphere for non-compliance, so no manufacturer risks it. This directly impacts their production of these models, and effectively makes them limited models by default. However, as the MY moves on and they know how many cars/trucks have been sold/made the numbers become less speculative and more real. They may then know that there is room in the numbers to produce some additional low MPG (and more profitable) units - which is why we see the sudden glut of available units at the end of the model year. But if overall sales slump or the high MPG models aren't selling, we won't see those "bonus" units produced.
I don't pretend to be an expert on this subject, and this is my layman's understanding of it. But I know these conditions do affect production numbers very much.
