I had 1LE Wheels and Brakes on my SS back in October of last year by a local shop. About 2 - 3 weeks after the install I felt what I thought were warped rotors when applying the brakes but unfortunately in Late November my passenger side front Caliper completely came off destroying both the Caliper and the Wheel. I found that all of the brake caliper bolts, every single one of them from front to rear were also loose... ...So the car had been down for about a month while I replaced all the parts.

It 'seems' like a light vibration is slowly returning when lightly braking and also faintly noticable when cruising at highway speeds. I put the car on ramps and got under it and checked the 18mm brake caliper bolts on the front and they didn't budge. They were iron tight.. Are those the only ones I should check? Just trying to figure out if something is loose or if I need to bed my rotors. I'm paranoid because I don't want another caliper to dislodge while I'm driving.

Did you apply threadlocker to the caliper bolts? Also, what torque did you tighten them to (the spec calls for 111 lb-ft initial + 15-30° final pass if I remember correctly)?

I also have SS 1LE brakes, and they exhibit no vibration at all, whether it's light or even emergency braking, after several rotor and pad changes. If the bolts are tight and your rotor looks fine, you could indeed try re-bedding the pads.

I second Arpad's comments. My brakes have been trouble free and as someone who tracks, I'm on my second set of front rotors and my 5th set of front pads. As long as the caliper bolts are on tight and your wheel bearings are OK, any vibration should be due to uneven pad accumulation.

Before re-bedding the pads, you could try a bunch of breaking with very light pedal pressure (given that the OEM 1LE pads are semi-metallic, light pressure tends to scrub the rotors clean so would be expected to help remove any uneven accumulation).

I had a shop do the work so not sure what torque they went with. This was a different shop than the original shop as well. They did tell me all the bolts all the way around were loose but the first shop could have not tightened them fully. Not sure what's going on.

I'm going to go ahead and remove the wheels tomorrow and check the calipers to make sure they're tight again. I couldn't get a turn on them last time I checked which was about 3 days ago.

No vibration, I've experienced vibrations on my '16 but that was due to warped rotors.

Also which thread locker should I use for 1LE Brakes?

I don't think bolts are what are causing your vibration, unless they were loose because someone forgot to tighten them. It's most likely some sort of pad deposit. I track my car frequently and sometimes I don't even use threadlock, they have never come loose on me. It looks like your original issue was just caused by someone not tightening the bolts at all, or not tightening them to spec.

Yeah. I went and took the car to have the wheels balanced this morning. My drivers front and rear were pretty unbalanced. The caliper bolts were tight though. Had the wheels balanced and reinstalled. It's quite a bit better but still alittle vibration. Tonight when there's no traffic I may try to bed them.

I had this issue on my 2016. I had 1le wheels and stock 4 piston brakes. Kept getting light vibration when braking lightly. Replaced multiple rotor sets and had them installed by shops each time until the final set. What I believe finally fixed my issue (unfortunately didn’t put more than 1000 miles on it before trading for my 1le) was I replaced the wheel hubs.

Do you also have light vibration when not braking? If so that could be the issue. I don’t believe the shops actually took all the rust off my wheel hubs prior to installing rotors each time simply because it was not possible to take it all off. When I did the work myself the final time I found the hubs were so rusty that unless I went at them with a hammer and chisel the rust was not going to come off. If the rotors don’t have a flat surface to rest on they will begin to vibrate after not very many miles.

I left my car on jackstands and ordered new wheel hubs. My vibration when not braking finally went away (as did the braking vibration). If you tend to wash your wheels and then let the car sit for a long period of time before going for a drive yours could be too rusty for all of the rust to be removed.

I used/use the same thing. The rust that were on my hubs were too intense for that. My hubs looked like they came off the titanic.

Both front wheel hubs are brand new, haven't touched the rear ones however.
