Still smiling - exceeded my expectations. The front end grip on this thing is phenomenal (better than Z51), and the adjustability mid corner is the absolute best of anything I have driven (including Formula Fords and other race cars). This is one honest car - it does exactly what you expect it to do as you change inputs.

Haha my thoughts exactly. This is one truly amazing car and so very capable. Its balance is simply outstanding.

Thanks! Not many v6's at the track, which is a shame, it's magic! Also, I noticed that you accidentally transposed times on the first post, I ran a 2:04.2. I'll get it down under the 2 min mark with new tires eventually.

Thanks for this thread btw!

Thanks Ryan, that's the goal... maximize the friction circle and keep the car accelerating as hard as possible up the track. A techncial track like NCM really rewards smoothness. I was just having this discussion last week with some fellow NCM instructors that it is the only track I've driven (and I've driven a LOT of tracks) where there is a 10-15 second lap time delta in advanced run groups with like cars. Guys that overdrive corner entry, corner after corner, then are down 5-10mph on entry on 3 straights that are pretty long... all the sudden you have a guy who thinks he's driving the wheels off the car who is 10 seconds a lap off the pace.

I took my V6 1le out to Buttonwillow #13 CW yesterday and was incredibly impressed. 8 days after driving it off the showroom floor, only changing fluids after the break-in. Stock everything including the run-on-flats haha. 2:04.279

Transponder data here: https://racehero.io/events/sv-brp-8-...rall-Ddbdabad6

There were 3 other Camaro's at the track, times are highlighted on the image. I think all were stock or very close to stock and on abused stock goodyear's.

Good Job at ButtonWillow. When I had my 2015 1LE my best lap time was 2.07.781. So your V6 beat me out.. I know the track is technical and nimble and it's not all about the HP..
Can't wait to get the 2018 SS1LE out there...

Only my second track day, so there’s definitely a lot of speed and smoothness to improve on.

Congrats! Nice driving. Dont hesitate to try PTM Sport 1 soon. It will free up the car a bit yet still retain Stabilitrak and TC. All the best!

I'll share a secret. I like the challenge of driving Lime Rock Park, but it was a track I never really felt relaxed driving at. LRP has so many places that can cost you dearly if you make a mistake. So I always drove "serious"/clean laps, no sliding, hanky-panky, etc.

In the SS1LE, somehow, I felt totally comfortable, relaxed, and I think for the first time I had genuine fun there. Doing some drifts in the low consequence corners (turn 2 and left hander), using all of the pavement in the uphill, etc.

If I focused on a neat/clean lap for lap time, I can get into the 1.00.xx stock - no doubt. 59.xx will have to be an "inspired moment" and prob require better tires and pads.

I look forward to smashing existing lap times with an extra 2.5 Liters of displacement.

P.S. My Nissan 370z Autobahn Country Club time is already faster than the camaro time, shameful!
My 3:03 is awful.
1) traffic
2) I only ran the morning sessions
3) second track day ever and first time at autobahn
4) I was running a 102 degree fever - left after this session. As I approached the end of the session I started to feel like I wasn't 100% focused on what I was doing, so it was time to go. Didn't realize I had the fever until I got home and took my temperature.

I am looking forward to getting back to autobahn this summer and I'm sure my time will come down. I know I was leaving time on the table - in every corner....lol. And I am sure someone with more experience than me will smash that time too.

Hopefully, we will get to meet this summer!
