Yeah, the tires were squealing in every corner and he had to make a few sudden corrections in the first couple, probably due to colder tires, which must have cost him the 7:15:xx final lap time. The man was cornering regularly at 125-135 mph in sweepers and 75-85 mph in tight turns, it's difficult to see anyone driving the ZL1 1LE much harder.

I even recall him impatiently twitching his hands and checking the timing equipment in the long straight where the car just wasn't accelerating past 168-170 mph due to the big wang... I'm sure if it were possible, he would've pushed the car harder, but it simply gave everything it had that day.

So you think you know better than the Chief Engineer of Camaro, and you think GM Chassis Engineer, Bill Wise, is a pro racer.

Interesting...
Yes, I'll call him out of his damn mind if he believes a stock ZL1 1LE can run quicker than 7 seconds at the ring. Yep I said it, and now the burden is on him to prove it. Ball is in his court and I'll eat crow if it happens. I'm confident in my bet.

You certainly aren’t limiting yourself to “…real world data.”

Carry on….
Real world data says it ran 7:16, correct? Facts are facts, sorry not sorry.

Respect that man's Gangsta!

Yea, its absurd that people think he was just loafing along and any certified "pro driver" could step in and trim 16+ seconds off Bill's time.

Exactly but apparently everything Bill had was 16+ seconds slower than what a "professional" driver could have done. I'm not sure sure why GM even allowed Bill to drive the car when any old "amateur" GM customer service representative could have performed just as good as Bill since they're all just "amateurs" anyway.

Bill Wise drove that ZLE like a total Savage who didn't care if he lived or died.

He is the reason I decided my next V8 would be a ZL1 1LE.

No substitute.

I've been telling people for years the ZL1 is the best bang for the buck under 100K. I also never debated the 7:16 time that was run with Bill Wise. It sounds legit to me and Bill is perfectly capable of driving that car at the limit. My debate is with those that think this car is many tenths quicker or even a sub 7 second car at the Ring. That run won't be repeated most likely unless someone privately funds it. Its very expensive for manufacturers to test at the Ring so most choose not to. It is however a valuable tool for tweaking suspension and handling characteristics which is why the ZL1 1LE was there to begin with. Now that the car is about to be out of production, there's no need to run it again, at least from GM's standpoint.
There was a time in 2019 or 2020 when you could pick a new one up for 60-65 with incentives. Those days are long gone. I don't think we are saying anything different, either. I'm replying to people who say the car is in someway less because of the video controversy, or incapable of the time posted. I would really like to see another run and this time have optimal conditions to truly evaluate it.

You clearly implied it since you seem to think there's another 17 seconds in there with a "pro" driver.

False.

But keep going champ, you're on a roll.

Everyone agrees Bill is an expert driver, not a Kyle Bush, but really good. You see it every race. Teams have two cars exactly the same and one driver always out drives the other. IMO that car can do a few seconds quicker with a better driver.
