I would bet Camaro decided to do something after the announcement of the new GT500 that comes with a DCT auto trans only. Ford does not even want to use there own developed 10 speed auto, they go to a better DCT and Camaro must of said Oh Oh, we gotta do something........... to stay competitive. Bravo and good to see Camaro doing something. Now just add the LT5 and kick some GT500 700 + horses ass. |

You can't go from ZERO to "ok, we are going to put the 10-speed in next month". This was not a direct result of the GT500, as the R&D started waaaay before then. The timing of the announcement however probably had everything to do with the release of the GT500 specs.

Well Im sure this will be the only car I ever own with a manual so I am perfectly fine with being 2 months early on my purchase. Plus this will probably be my only Camaro, as I am truly a Vette guy. Always raising the bar is what it is all about at the end of the day.

This is exactly the way the A10 was rolled out for the 2017... M6 came in Oct an we had to wait until Jan-Feb 2018 for the A10.
Only difference was last time we knew the Auto was coming. This time they drop it on us and it starts next month. |

Ohhh the 1LE purists came unglued at the seams last year when I mentioned the car would be something I would buy with the auto. I honestly think they were planning a road trip to beat me up. I’d have like 20 flat black vinyl hoods parked out front. They said it’s pure track and Chevy would NEVER put an auto in one. Now look...

After our 2016 8-speed Escalade ESV had a steady stream of problems, including crazy transmission issues they wouldn't fix...I swore off GM for life! We've had two Escalades and a Yukon XL Denali. All garbage and nothing GM could fix.
Fast forward to our new ZLE 6MT. Had to have it. Went against my word. If our past GM AT problems are any indication, I'm plenty happy with my MT. And of course I also needed to get a manual for the kids to learn on. Oldest has been driving for a couple of years now so it was time. Kids who can't drive manuals won't come from my household! |

Didn't they break that tradition rules since ZL1 coming with 1LE trim and give ZR1 automatic available ?

No for the hard core drivers...
Looks like the 1LE gets a deeper oil pan which I assume is for cooling to address that. |

So, in implementing the A10, Chevy: -Revised the transmission pan -Added another cooler duct -Revised the DSSV damping -Recalibrated the PTM snd e-diff Yup. All that can be changed and validated in a month. Those changes would take at least 6 months, minimum. |
