Mr Wyndham, if you had to take a wild guess, would you think that someone could see something at 12:01am on certain message boards on 3/16/16 or would one have to wait for the official GM press release later in the day?

Probably sooner than we think. The well spread rumor is the next HP C7 model will be mid engine and a small V8 (5.5L?) TT upward of 700 hp. Maybe see the same engine in a later model 6th gen Camaro or maybe the 7th gen. Just some thoughts.

There will be a ZL1 vert. I'm not sure if it will be released at the same time as the coupe.

Also, I'm thinking that they had a ZL1 at the turbo four reveal and drive and invited some press back to look at it so there will be more info on it on 3/16/16. A likely cover!

I actually wouldn't be surprised. Now that the Grand Sport has been revealed with a stock LT1, I'm not sure where a NA Z/28 would fit in the sixth gen lineup alongside an LT4 powered Camaro. And since the Z/28 name has more cachet than the ZL1, and GM already establshed precedent by ruining the ZO6 DNA, I fully expect this car to have a Z28 badge on it.
