Probably will not sell as well as the Mustang, but I think it'll sell well enough.

http://www.cars.com/vehicledetail/de...5585/overview/

2015 1LT auto. 18,114 miles and $23,988.

A similar 6th Gen, 1LT, V6, auto..is $29,685.

Now assuming you just pay MSRP on both, that's still a $5,700 difference. The 2015 is still under warranty and on the street/daily driving..will perform almost exactly the same. In terms of just wanting a good looking car...what does the 6th gen have in a base 1LT form that the 5th Gen doesn't?

And that's where there will be issues for some people I think..
The 2016 has zero miles vs 18,114 for the 2015
The 2016 weighs ~400 lbs less so it performs better, not the same.
The 2016 has a much better interior.

Meanwhile the new Mustang continues to outsell Camaro by a wide margin, unlike the Gen5 model run.

GM would have been MUCH better served replicating its C7 Corvette launch. Base 2014 Vette's were barely $1000 more than the far inferior outgoing 2013 model. Demand was so strong it was a home run success while supply could not keep up with sales affording GM the opportunity to raise the base MSRP $2000 in short order. Hardly anyone blinked an eye while demand remained exceptionally strong. This style roll out would have truly helped price perception of the new Camaro as its core fan is much more price conscious.
What I find strange is the Chevy dealers around me are not really discounting the 2015.. You can get a better deal (bigger discount) on a new gen Mustang than the 5th gen Camaro.

What you're bringing up is the case for pretty much every car purchase.. Besides a Subaru, Honda, Toyota, and some niche cars.

The way most of these cars depreciate, I'm not sure I will ever buy a new car again. Probably something 2-3 years old.
I'm only giving an example of what people on the car lots will see..the only way to do a true "Apples to apples" comparison is to compare it to another 6th gen auto 1LT..then what's the point because they'll be the same price?

Yeah it's true for a lot of brands..but what I'm saying is that unlike when the 5th Gen came out (where the other used Camaro V6 option was a 6-7 year old 3.8 4th gen at that point)..there is a *very* similar looking model that is quite a bit cheaper, with roughly and reasonably the same power and is just as daily driver usable, if not more so.

You'll absolutely have people that only want a brand new car..it's thrilling! But there are plenty of people also who are willing to get a low mile used car and save, in this case, nearly $6,000.

Those of you who know me from a few other threads know I won't pay near MSRP or even invoice. I'm waiting for the negotiation room to loosen up.

My price point is $40k out the door for a 2SS 6 speed with a moonroof. That's including tax, title, all dealer/doc fees, and 30 day temp tag. Out. The. Door.

Flame away if you think I'm crazy but you know damn well for a car that stickers at $43,200 there's easily $5k in dealer profit margin built in. If the Camaros are still "flying off the shelves" and dealers can let me walk for another customer who will pay more just waiting in line behind me, it's their business. Let me walk and I will.

I love the car but I will also negotiate hard and take my time to save money.

I'm not going to flame you..but to keep it at $40,000 with TTL on that car would mean you'd have to cut the out the door price on just the car down to about $37,500...

Ambitious!

In my case, Northern VA dealers mostly have "non-color" cars, meaning black and grey.

Same with their Vette selection.

They need a better selection of colors around here, no way do I purchase a black car. Also, as said before, weather is cold and snow is coming.

Yeah very ambitious since the invoice on that car is around $45k. I purchased a 1ss with npp, MRC, and sunroof for 40k otd and the invoice was $40.6k. I do not see you getting the 2ss for that. Even with GM employee pricing. Might want to keep your Honda in good shape.

Uh, how is invoice 45 when MSRP as built on chevy.com is 43,200?

$43,195 exactly, including destination.

$40k out the door for a car with a $43k sticker is really not that outrageous. My stepdad bought his $24,000 Buick Verano for under $20k out the door - that was BEFORE he redeemed his GM card points. After points he paid about $18k all together.

I don't know. I know it's apples to oranges, but my Dad got 10,000 dollars off his last truck. I highly doubt they are only making 2k off the car. Between dealer kick backs they could likely easily still break even at 40,000.

The main thing to remember is that the bread and butter version of the Camaro (T4) will not be at dealerships until 5-6 months after V6, V8 deliveries that first started in November.

People are right to be concerned about future sales. But as of right now it is waaay too early to tell.

Local dealerships in Central Florida have cars sitting plenty of SS and loaded 2LT cars.

I have yet to see any on the road. Between the 3 dealerships I have visited since Christmas I can count well over 40 cars sitting. I just passed one on my way to lunch and say 6 SS and 3 LT cars sitting at another dealership.
