I like both. When it was the 4th gen F-body vs the Mustang I was Camaro all the way. I like the styling and look of the new Mustang quite a bit more than the Camaro. Both are nice cars.

Great thread.
I've always found it strange that such simular cars have people that love one and HATE the other. The Camaro and Mustang share many characteristics. These traits should attract the same type of car enthusiast. People do tend to pick their favorite and then automatically hate the alternative...kind of weird human nature really. I understand the rivalry... I owned a 1996 Mustang GT from 1998-2004. Even with performance heads, headers, exhaust, suspension, and a tune...the F-bodies of the day would beat me. Fords 4.6L mod motor was reliable but very down on power (215 hp stock). The stock F-bodies at 305-320 hp and much better low end torque, would have no problem beating my 290 hp modified '96. I've always respected the GM small block V8. GM is bringing the goods in the performance department lately. Corvette C7, Cadillac ATS-V/CTS-V, Camaro Gen6. For long term owners...those that might replace a warn out engine, GM and Ford crate motor programs are both great. Last edited by American Legend; 06-29-2016 at 01:55 PM. |

But I get it. It's all about subsets. Consider the set of cars made. Both the Camaro and Mustang will rank close to each other in styling, performance, handling, etc. The absolute worst car is like a pinto, the best being like a venom or something. But now consider the subet of vehicles which only includes Mustangs and Camaros. Suddenly the absolute worst car in this set is the Mustang. When a person spends so much time only looking at the subset, comparing the differences, one loses site of how similar they are.

I like them all, but I just have not liked the Mustang rear end since they slanted it forward. The Challenger, it looks cool, but just too damn big and heavy. Now a 1967 Mustang fastback, hell yes.
But, I am really a bigger fan of the 1st Gen Mustang......the one with a Rolls Royce Merlin.
