This article is from December 4, 2024. And, unironically, its seems its for some of the exact reasons Camaros are targeted:

-Easily hacked by progamming new keys
-Plenty of them around (can blend in with the public)
-Hot market for discontinued parts
EVERY time I park outside of my garage...

Plus I have multiple other layers of protection (which I won't disclose)...

These are mainly to let them know "I'm well aware these are high theft, this one is gonna be a royal pain in the ass... Probably a much easier one around here somewhere... Find it..."

Lol, and yet this is still more than what a lot of people out here in SoCal do to protect their sixth-gens. Those people think that a third pedal and wishful thinking are acceptable enough deterrents.

I see you’re also in SoCal, so you’re definitely aware of how hot is still is out here for these cars. I mean, I’m glad that grand theft is now a felony again (even if it is more of a “three strikes” type of deal instead of automatic). But that doesn’t go into effect in January, if I’m not mistaken. I just leave my driver side window down and turn on my killswitch, because I got tired of sitting on glass shards I missed while vacuuming my seats after a recent break-in.

Any rate, my local auto glass shop is making a killing from all of these attempted thefts. He usually doesn’t sit very long on stock piles of windows, and he’s definitely made some money from me at least five times.

You're window has been broken 5 times?!?!?! Where in SoCal are you? I'm down in San Diego county so I don't think things are quite as bad an LA and Riverside counties... Also, my car doesn't see the light of day all that often as it isn't my daily driver...

Lol wouldn't happen to be this one, would it? https://ls1tech.com/articles/2020-ch...t-performance/

Because that would mean you bought a fleet vehicle used by automotive journalists lol. I wrote this one years ago, and Chevy's fleet company out in SoCal lent it to MotorTrend before they gave it to us.

GM has a system that is on Millions of vehicles using the Global A electrical architecture. And because an article comes out with a high rate of theft in LA (lol the only Camaro theft reported in this website was the guy who’s Ram pickup was broken into but I may have missed one or two) people want to sue.

I believe most OEMs have a similar system and using a remote key generator to steal cars is not unique to GM or the Camaro. Again the data I posted earlier shows IF GM has any problem with vehicle theft it’s full size pick ups, not Camaros. GM had more full size pickups stolen in one year than that made Camaros in the last 3. So let’s sue. And you can bet there are hundreds if not thousands of lawyers doing nothing but looking for that class action lawsuit. You know like the one where we got $7 from Google and the lawyers got millions.

Yes, very much against the litigious nature we have created in America

Welp…it’s the American way, I guess. 🤷*♂️ https://www.autoblog.com/news/gm-law...ntry-suv-theft
