This is a very good post. I truly believe social media has made society in general worse. I don’t even get on it anymore.

Don’t get me started on masks, I spent 10-15 years in oil/water/process filtration… if anything masks caused more deaths because folks had a false sense of security.

How about a back-to-topic question: If the cost to rent time for a self-driving EV was half of what you're paying for your vehicles now (gas, maintenance, loan, etc.)... who would sign up? You would have it available whenever you needed (not the same vehicle but a vehicle) and it basically operated like an Uber or Lyft.
Would it make a difference if you could keep your existing cars for personal use but use the EV ride for work and typical errands?

It seems a very important component of the EV Transition has been overlooked or intentionally ignored. That is the amount of raw materials and precious metals needed to sustain this so-called transition.
From the esteemed World Economic Forum: https://www.weforum.org/agenda/2022/...ical-minerals/ "Shifting from fossil fuels to renewables requires huge amounts of critical metals. Recycling alone won't be enough to sustain the amount of materials needed We need to increase sharing, reuse and a preference for longevity to reduce demand. We need a clean energy revolution, and we need it now. But this transition from fossil fuels to renewables will need large supplies of critical metals such as cobalt, lithium, nickel, to name a few. Shortages of these critical minerals could raise the costs of clean energy technologies." ('Ya think?) EVs will never be produced in numbers close to ICE, it will be impossible. There will be shortages of available vehicles and extremely high costs to produce or own one. Meanwhile, fossil fueled ICE vehicles will have been discontinued and unavailable. The policies and planning that will follow can only be Orwellian by necessity. (As the WEF contends). The wrong side of history will have been to eliminate fossil fuels and ICE as a standard quality of life and the freedom it provided, and blindly or more likely intentionally, replacing it with an unsustainable system of rare earth material dependent transportation. Throwing away ICE, fossil fuels, and the quality of life and standards of living it has provided to millions will be shown by history to be the biggest unforced error and folly. |

They’ve already have done it in multiple localities and have current legislation pending to do just that nationwide. Both parties are guilty. It’s their goal to eliminate fossil fuels, therefore making our Camaros obsolete. Keeping your head in the sand, and just saying it’s not going to happen doesn’t makes it so, is a fool’s errand. Freedom be scary, yo. Last edited by BLACK21SS; 08-23-2022 at 12:03 PM. |

The colonists put up with a lot of BS from the crown before all hell broke loose. The British made the final mistake of going for the guns... Anyway, you can go to the DOI for the passage that defines our current state of affairs: "Prudence, indeed, will dictate that Governments long established should not be changed for light and transient causes; and accordingly all experience hath shewn, that mankind are more disposed to suffer, while evils are sufferable, than to right themselves by abolishing the forms to which they are accustomed. But when a long train of abuses and usurpations, pursuing invariably the same Object evinces a design to reduce them under absolute Despotism, it is their right, it is their duty, to throw off such Government, and to provide new Guards for their future security." The history books compress time and forget the little day-to-day stuff. I am sure minor incidents happened after the Stamp Act or The Boston Tea Party that time has forgot. We, on the other hand, are watching a replay first hand in slow motion. And, that old adage of "The more it changes, the more it stays the same". Some Americans were for the crown, others just wanted to "go along to get along", and then the "traitorous rebels". Much like we see today. I think I read it was am estimated 10% of Americans that pushed for independence.

Wait a minute I thought this would be a situation like where Thanos just snaps his fingers with the infinity stones and makes all ice disappear?

It's unfortunate that so many are willing to pooh pooh what's happening right in front of their faces. Even further, ridicule people who are discussing it. We have a situation where the person in power openly stated he wanted to get rid of fossil fuels. It was a campaign promise. Subsequent to him taking power the cost of gas has doubled. A court has had to order the administration to resume quarterly drilling leases. A major car company has discontinued two major cars publicly stating that they would rather not. Yet we get snark about 'coming to take your cars'. Dude, wake up. No gas means no driving. Gas at $20 or $30 a gallon means basically no driving. They don't have to come take your car to prevent you from driving it. Right now the things that are being regulated out of existence don't matter much to many people, but trust me, eventually they will get to something you do care about. Meat, or the ability to set your thermostat yourself, or what you're allowed to watch. All those are already being talked about as potential 'bad things', and more. |

I find living without paranoia to be much more pleasing.
