Which racestars do you need if you want to run the MT 305/45/17? 17x9.5 big enough or do you need to go wider?

My set up is RS Recluse 4.0 x 17 for the front and 10.5 x 17 for the rear. Just ordered MT's for the front and rear today, they are on sale at JEGS. ET Front Runners, 27.5 x 4 x 17 and MT ET Street SS 305 x 45 x 17 for the back.

Thanks for the reply. I found a good deal on some 17x9.5 rims so was hoping I could use them. I ended up checking the MT website the they say rims 9.5-11 are ok. But I am concerned it is cutting it a little close.

Has anyone mounted these on the 17x9.5 rims?

That's what I use. I have the 305/45/17 et street R. Been to the track 4-5 times. Hour drive each way. 20+ passes

They are within spec according to the website like you said. I have had no problems what so ever

One last question if you don't mind. Are you using the 6.00 or 6.43 back spacing wheels?

I have the standard I believe. 6.0. My tires sit about flush with the fenders. The look is fine with me for just at the track. If you want them tucked in more I think the 6.43 is what will accomplish that.
You also need install kit with lugs and rings. If you call race star they are great with customer service will hook you up with all part numbers you need. But I'd look elsewhere for the best price. If you order from them they are a bit high.

If you end up with my setup make sure you unlock the trans as well. You will gain an instant .2 from disabling the torque management in the trans. But I'd advise just running the no TM only at the track as I've found reports of decreased transmission life running no TM.

Thanks for all of the info. Do you think there is enough clearance on the inside to run 305s with the 6.43 without any rubbing issues. If i am thinking about it correctly the inside clearance would similar to someone running 325s with a 6.0 bs.

Is anyone running 305s with a 6.43 bs.

Yes, you will have clearance. However, you will need to remove the driver side liner and re-route the cable to the inside, takes 15 minutes. Once you route the cable just pin the liner to the the wheel well with a GM fastener, the hole is there in the well.

It's not the same wheel, but I use a Weld 17x10 with a 7.2 backspace and a 305/45-17 Mickey Thompson. I recently checked the driver's side liner for the wear problem that people have seen with 305/35-20 tires and no issue spotted on mine.

Thanks I heard something about this, I am guessing there is probably a youtube video on this, so I will check it out.

This is helpful. I am stilling learning all this but I would think even with the different wheel size you would running closer on the inside than I would and I would be fine. I think I am going to go with the 17x9.5 race stars 6.43bs with the 305/45-17 Mickey Thompson.

In checking around on pricing the best deal I have seen on Race Star is Summit and the best pricing on Mickey Thompson is Jegs. Although I think Jegs will price match Summit on the Race Star. Has anyone seen better pricing from anyone else on either of these?

When I ordered my dragpack I just called summit and they matched everything some of summits tires had a oversize shipping charge compared to being free from Jegs, Summit also matched that. Just call and ask
