Funny, I wrote to one of their inside guys today out of curiosity and this was Whipple’s reply:

We are working on a price for those who want to upgrade from the 2.9 to the 3.0. I should have that in the next 30 days

As for port injection as of now it does not accept it but we are also working on it

We have just released the LT1 Camaro kit and as of now there has not been any back to back testing with the 2650

So the continued “kicking the can down the road” attitude by Whipple is not helping. I’ve loved my Whipple 2.9 and have made really solid power with it, but if they’re not going to get their act together soon then it’ll have to be a Maggie 2650 next year for me. Given what Greg & Mike are doing with TooHighPSI stuff and PI, I’m leaning Maggie anyway. Guess we’ll see.

Looks like it's a go! I am probably not upgrading anytime soon since I am nowhere near the limits of my 2.9 but I am looking forward to seeing the results on some of the bigger builds that will make the swap!

I wonder how the parasitic loss compares from the 1.7L to 2.3L to 2.6L to 3.0L
I assume as the rotor packs get heavier, it takes more HP to turn?

I know in the case of the 2650 they went through great lengths to minimize it, but the bigger the rotor the more power it will take to turn it. Question is, how much more over that loss will it make..

Over the last few days, Eaton has been teasing their next TVS rotors to make up for the failed 3100 last year. They are going to show it at PRI I believe. Magnuson has been telling me for a few months that something else is coming as well. So, unless you are dead set on a Whipple, it might be worth waiting on that announcement before pulling the trigger on either so you have all of your options in front of you.

Yeah, but who knows how long before one of their partners implements them. Even more important, implements them in a way that works for our cars.

Interesting... That looks like it is NOT their "R" rotor group, like the 2650 is. That looks like a "V" rotor set.

Whipple is just like Magnuson; they don't want to lose any current or potential customers to the other guy so keeping people on the hook but not providing the bait to catch the fish is fairly typical. I hope Whipple does come out with something this year just to see how it does. I'm not in the cue anymore on what Magnuson is doing so that was news to me about what Jason said they have coming and will debut it at PRI. Surprised it's not at SEMA also.

Nailed it except they don't push a 2.9 on ya like maggi was doing to me with the 2300s before I gave up and went eforce,.

appreciate ya being honest laynlo!

if you need answers Nick Perciello usually answers pretty quick on facebook.

I had a 2.9. It broke 4 times in 10 months. Never did anything crazy with it. Never had a chance cuz the car was always in the shop. Took it off and did some NA mods and the car has been reliable, solid as a rock. Whipple rebuilt it but I haven't reinstalled it. I'd love to see what the 3.0 can do but I won't be the one to find out.

Nice looking piece. I really like the cooler lines coming out the sides. The front just has a lot going on like on my 2300 and the 2650r. Great idea by Whipple.
