I asked a local Chevy dealer and they told me they can do an oil consumption test. The person I talked said they would document the oil levels every 1000 miles. He also said to tow it to the dealership if oil light comes on and don't add oil as they want to document every additions.

Can someone shed some lights on their oil consumption tests and how it went? If they find it is not normal, do they fix it or replace the engine?

i can only tell you about my gt350 experience and they did not want me to add oil either…drove 1000 miles and took it back…they checked to see if it used more than 2 qts…as their manual stated 500mi/qt was normal usage…mine was using a quart every 350 miles so I got a new voodoo.

Was it ford warranty or Carmax? I think Chevy manual also says 500 miles/quart is normal for performance driving.. which they say is above 3k RPM. I am sure that's for getting out of warranty claims. But I'm sure if I drive this spirited with occasional WOT, mine will be also burn a quart before 500 miles.. Didn't know I had to plan for oil budget as well when buying performance cars....

my LT4 uses some, but not that much lol
