Anything else would yield a no start or the equivalent of key turned/engine off scenario (accessory mode?).

Now I'm having to get in, brake+clutch, push to start and then hit the relay button.
Mine has some timing weirdness, too, and I hate to press the start button first, because eventually I get random codes... presumably the ECM sees the starter as unreliable, which is not unreasonable from its point of view.

If I press the button on the remote too late or too early, the engine won't start, so it's a crapshoot. I can't press it before opening the door, which would be the least uncomfortable option, because the car isn't awake yet and without power the unit can't receive the signal.

Never thought about it throwing a code but that makes sense. It's so strange how varied the experiences are and I appreciate the validation that it isn't just me. I'm amazed to hear some folks can hit the relay before they get into the car and it still starts when mine is so finicky.

To comment on interference, I've actually had a very specific incidence of that - every time I've parked in a particular place in town, it takes me several tries to get the relay to work. I've even been tempted to bring the original relay because I've been worried I'd need to have it towed if I couldn't get it started. I've come to the conclusion after two such visits to this place that they have a wireless sound system (it's an ice cream joint) that pumps music into the parking lot, seating areas, etc. I wonder if it causes just enough interference to mess with the wireless signal from the fob to the relay.

I think some of this is signal problems. I usually push the button while standing outside the car with the door open. Then get in and start. If I push the button while sitting in the car, it often doesn't work unless I hold the remote up close to the windshield. I think there is too much interference in the dashboard.

Perhaps this is it. I've always done it while being seated in the car because I assumed it was the shortest path to the relay, but given the amount of electronics in the cars these days, I wouldn't be surprised if there is interference.

Hopefully taking the car out tonight or tomorrow so I'll get back to everyone, but thank you again for your insights!

Update: took the car out this morning and tried both the outside the car and through the windshield recommendations, and it worked perfectly! Thanks for the advice, fellas!

Here’s the siren - I tried to upload the video of it but Camaro6 aparently can’t take video from your phone (or maybe it does and I don’t know what I’m doing lol)

No and everything has a way to beat it or get around it if the thief is determined enough you have to have back up theft deterrent for the main deterrent then a back up for the back up deterrent at this point I’m parking my car by other people’s sports cars and hope they’ll leave mine alone and go for the easier cars it’s messed up but gotta do what I can to keep her safe until I move into a house

That is one mean looking siren. The sound should certainly run off any intruders in your car.

I'd suggest concealing a stock relay somewhere in the car, in case the Mobi relay or remote fails (perhaps at the most inconvenient time and place).

This is exactly what I've done. It's not in a convenient place, and will take longer than a thief wants to spend, to find it. But it's there in case I need it.

Interesting. I haven't had any issues with mine yet. How long have you had the Mobilistics unit?

I usually unlock the car and then press the remote when I'm still about 15-25 feet away from the relay itself.

Not a bad idea.

I've had it since I bought the car back in October '23.

The stock relay is stashed in my car as well. The shitter would have to go through some things before locating it. I can swap the Mobilistics relay out in two minutes. My luck the day this is necessary it will be pouring rain.

Hmm, I've only had mine for a year so. I wonder if it's an age thing.
