Complete bolt in, find a friend to help get it in the car.

That was the tricky part and would not recommend trying that part alone. Was able to complete the install by my self with the exception of marking the backing plates on the rear finders.

Reviving a dead thread to see if the OP has any updates? Curious to see if you’re satisfied with this setup or if you’ve made any changes

If this GT bar used with the stock seats, can the stock 3-pt belts still be used for street use between track events? Or is there a risk of hitting the roll bar in case of an accident?

Great post.
One thing I would mention is that this is not a "cage". This is a 4pt roll bar. There is a massive difference. Cages (which some are bolt in) are for the most part welded in the car. NASA defines a road racing cage as mounting to 6 points in the car which is a very loose interpretation of what a cage is. For SCCA road racing section 9.3.38 and 9.4 "A roll cage consists of a main hoop, front hoop, side protection and braces as specified in these rules" This means there is a hoop above the driver's head, bars leading down the A pillars down to a mounting point in the floor, a connecting bar that runs behind the dash to connect both down bars, door bars, and a horizontal roof connecting bar. At all times, the driver helmet must be 2 inches away from any bar when the driver is belted into the seat in his/her driving position and roll bar padding must be used. There is also standards for the appropriate bracing, tube wall thickness, materials and welds. I post this because many use this as a reference place to learn and a 4 point bar and really a 6 point bar is not a cage. |
